The Edge 30 Ultra is a masterpiece of Motorola smartphones. It brings the world’s highest pixel camera, the 200-megapixel 1/1.22-inch ISOCELL HP1 sensor, which allows 16-in-1 pixel merging to produce a 12.5-megapixel final image with a pixel pitch of 2.56µm. There’s a 4,610mAh battery that can be charged wirelessly with 50W or wired with up to 125W TurboPower. Motorola says it can be used for 12 hours on a 7-minute charge. The Motorola Edge 30 Ultra is available starting today in Star Black and Star White, with the base 128GB storage version starting at 900 euros.

Motorola Edge 30 Series Indian Launch Date

The official Twitter handle of Motorola India has shared a post which reveals the launch date of the upcoming Motorola Edge series device. However, the post doesn’t explicitly mentions any particular Motorola Edge device. The Tweet confirms the launch date of the device, which has been set to September 8th, 2022.

Three different devices, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, Motorola Edge 30 Fusion and Motorola Edge 30 Lite are expected to release in the same launch event. In India, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra will debut as the country’s first smartphone with a 200MP camera. It will display a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ 144Hz OLED panel. A Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset powers the gadget. It has a 4,500mAh battery that enables 125W fast charging. It features 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. A 60MP front-facing camera is included with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra.

A Snapdragon 888+ processor powers the 6.55-inch Full-HD+ 144Hz OLED display on the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion, which also has a 4,400mAh battery that supports 68W rapid charging. The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion has 512GB of storage and up to 12GB of RAM. It sports a front-facing 32MP selfie camera in addition to a triple back camera setup with a 50MP main, a 13MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP depth sensor.

How does the first image from the 200MP camera look?

The General Manager of Motorola China, Chen Jin has posted an image taken from the upcoming Moto Edge 30 Ultra smartphone. While sharing the image on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, he mentioned that the images are taken from the sensor’s 4-in-1 pixel binning and thereby the image is of 50MP resolution. This is the highest default megapixel count of a smartphone sensor.

The device can, obviously, take images at 200MP as it comes with the support of pixel binning. We can’t judge the camera quality of the device from a single image as it was shared on social media and it has compressed the image. He further said the 4-in-1 pixel binning is better than the 9-in-1 supported in 108MP phones, including the Moto G200 that was released earlier this year.

Despite the compression, the image ended up being 13MB in size. And this is the camera’s default mode; if we take the image in 200MP, the image size will increase even bigger. We are hopeful that the brand will address this by offering more storage options in all variants. In China, the device will be known as the Moto X30 Pro, but in the rest of the world, it will be known as the Moto Edge 30 Ultra.
