Meta has acquired Lofelt, a Germany-based haptic feedback technology startup, a few weeks ago, but Meta only made the acquisition public in an interview today, The Wall Street Journal reported today.

Lofelt had previously developed tools for haptic feedback technology in mobile and PlayStation 5 games, but the company announced in July that it was discontinuing support for those products. It is reported that Meta acquired Lofelt mainly to achieve Meta’s goals related to the field of virtual reality and to continue to plow deep into the metaverse experience.

The acquisition comes at a time when Meta is embroiled in a legal dispute with the Federal Trade Commission (Federal Trade Commission). In July, the FTC filed a lawsuit asking the court to block Meta’s acquisition of virtual reality fitness software developer Within Unlimited.

Yesterday, FTC lawyers said they had asked their internal court to force Meta and its founder, Mark Zuckerberg, to get FTC approval before any future deal.
