In September, Huawei officially launched its new generation flagship, the Mate 50 Pro, in which it chose to use its own XMAGE imagery instead of the Leica imagery previously used in the Mate series. Today, DXOMARK officially announced that the Mate 50 Pro has arrived in France and is being lab-tested and analyzed in real-life scenarios by the image quality department, with the results to be released soon.

It is reported that Huawei’s self-developed XMAGE images mainly focus on realism, permeability, translucency and breathability, with good performance in terms of detail, light and shadow, naturalness, vignette and other aspects of the image.

The first phone to feature XMAGE, the Mate 50 Pro features a 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle, a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto, and a 50-megapixel main camera lens with a physically variable aperture, a proximity light sensor, a laser focus sensor and a 10-channel multi-spectral sensor.

The previous flagship of the Mate series, the Mate 40 Pro+, currently sits in ninth place in the DXOMARK rankings and the new generation Mate 50 Pro is expected to surpass this result.

It has been quite a long time passed since the official launch of the flagship Mate 40 series. The Huawei Mate 40 series was officially unveiled on the month of October 2022. Just after a few months, the series will mark its one-year anniversary. Well, the brand is now preparing for the release of its upgraded Huawei Mate 50 series.

Huawei Mate 50 series launching soon?

According to tipster @厂长是关同学, the brand will release its flagship Mate 50 lineup of devices in the month of September. He has further said that the lineup will consist of Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, and Mate 50 RS. The devices will be powered by the brand’s own Kirin 9000S chipset. It’s an upgraded version of Kirin 9000 with some tweaks done here and there.

It is worth mentioning that the chipset only supports 4G network connectivity. The 5G network support is unpresent here. Adding more information on this, the Digital Chat Station has recently shared the renders of the upcoming Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro smartphones. Both the devices look pretty similar from the rear with one circular camera module which houses triple cameras along with an LED light and some sensors.

The devices are expected to be released internationally as well, either at the same time as or a few weeks after their official China release. The Kirin 9000S chipset will power the Chinese version, whereas the Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship SoC is expected to power the global version. They may use the Snapdragon 888 SoC to compete with the Chinese variant, most likely.
