Apple released the 13-inch MacBook Air M2 version in June 2022, with a notch design, and the price of 8GB + 256GB starts at 9499 CNY. After the release of the new 15-inch MacBook Air, the 13-inch model has been reduced to 8999 CNY and the educational discount price is 8199 CNY.

It is noticed that Wingtech Technology’s Apple M2 chip MacBook Air, which was mass-produced at the Kunming factory, obtained the 3C quality certification earlier this month, marking that following the M1 version of the MacBook Air, the M2 model will also expand its production line in mainland China.

According to the Financial Associated Press, Apple’s MacBook Air product line has been produced by manufacturers such as Quanta and Foxconn in Taiwan, China, and Wingtech Technology is its only notebook computer chip manufacturer in mainland China.

Industry insiders said that with the mass production of the new M2, the shipment of Apple laptops produced by Wingtech Technology will further increase.

In terms of configuration, in addition to silver and space gray, the MacBook Air now has two new looks: midnight and starlight.

In terms of the interface, MagSafe returns to the MacBook Air, and at the same time, it can quickly disengage when the charging cable in the connected state is accidentally pulled, thereby protecting the MacBook Air. The MacBook Air also features 2 Thunderbolt ports for connecting several accessories and a 3.5mm audio jack for connecting high-impedance headphones. Plus, Magic Keyboard features a full-height function key row with Touch ID and a large, industry-leading Force Touchpad.

In terms of screen, the new MacBook Air is equipped with a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, with the screen area closer to the edge and extending up around the camera to make room for the menu bar. This design results in a larger screen area and narrower bezels. With 500 nits of brightness, the display is 25% brighter than before. Additionally, the new display now supports 1 billion colors.

The new 1080p FaceTime HD camera on MacBook Air features a larger sensor with more effective pixels, delivering up to 2X the resolution and low-light performance of the previous-generation camera.

In terms of audio, the MacBook Air is also equipped with a four-speaker audio system. In order to achieve a slim design. The three-microphone array uses advanced beamforming algorithms to capture clear sound, while the speakers deliver excellent stereo separation and clear speech. MacBook Air also supports spatial audio for an immersive audio-visual experience when playing music and movies that support Dolby Atmos.

In terms of performance, Apple gives the performance of MacBook Air in the following workflows:

For heavy-duty tasks, such as editing complex timelines in Final Cut Pro, the M2 chip can boost MacBook Air performance by nearly 40 percent, and up to 15 times faster for customers who haven’t previously upgraded to an Apple chip.

Applying filters and effects in apps like Photoshop is up to 20 percent faster, and for customers who haven’t previously upgraded to an Apple chip, it’s up to 5 times faster.

In terms of battery life, Apple claims that while the display is larger and the performance is stronger, the MacBook Air can also guarantee the same excellent battery life as before, which can meet all-day needs and provide up to 18 hours of video playback time.

According to UDN reports, Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air notebooks cannot deliver M3 chips on schedule due to TSMC’s production plan adjustments, and will still use M2 series chips.

It is reported that Apple’s M3 chip will be mass-produced by TSMC’s N3B process. Although TSMC claims that N3B is advancing as planned, mass production of M3 chips will have to wait until at least the third quarter of 2023. Therefore, the current N3B production capacity is reserved for the A17 Bionic on the Apple iPhone 15 model.

Previously reported that Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that an unreleased 15-inch MacBook Air was found in the App Store developer log. The model identifier is “Mac 15,3” and runs macOS 14. The notebook is equipped with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU with the same specifications as the M2 chip.

All Mac models are said to be coming in 2023 or early 2024, with the exception of a new version of Mac Studio, whose timing is “less clear.”

Gurman believes that “at least some” laptop models will be launched at WWDC, but he also pointed out that the new machine may not use the M3 chip, but retain the M2 series.

Apple MacBook

In recent times, we have often heard rumors about the new MacBook Air, but some of its details are still unclear. 9to5Mac has now obtained some evidence that Apple is indeed developing a new MacBook Air in two different sizes: 13-inch and 15-inch.

Not only that, but the company is also said to be planning an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro model. So, what do these laptops have in common? The latest intelligence suggests that they will all be powered by the new M3 chip.

As shown in the figure below, Apple’s current MacBook Air can choose M1 chip or M2 chip, with 13.3-inch and 13.6-inch screens respectively. Among them, the new M2 model adopts the “notch” design, and the price starts from 9499 yuan. It does not rule out that the new opportunity is more expensive possible.

Earlier, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that a MacBook Air update was “imminent” and that at least one new model would feature the M3 chip.

According to news obtained by 9to5Mac, the new 13-inch MacBook Air (codenamed J513) confirmed to use the M3 chip will be released alongside the new 15-inch model (codenamed J515), and this large-screen model will also be equipped with the M3 chip.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously said that Apple could release the 15-inch MacBook Air in “early April.” According to 9to5Mac’s sources, the 15-inch model will feature the same entry-level M3 chip as the new 13-inch MacBook Air. The chip will offer an 8-core CPU, just like the M1 and M2.

Sadly, there’s no evidence yet that the new MacBook Air will offer an M3 Pro-like chip option, but those aren’t the only new machines Apple is currently working on.

Apple is also planning a new 13-inch MacBook Pro, code-named J504, and the new entry-level MacBook Pro, code-named J504, will also be powered by the same eight-core M3 chip as the MacBook Air, the 9to5Mac source said.

It is not clear when Apple will launch these new Macs, but we consider that the M3 chip will be based on the latest TSMC 3nm build, which is not only more expensive but also cannot guarantee high yield, so we think these M3 chip-based models It may not appear until the second half of this year.

However, considering that the M2 chip was released together with the new MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro at WWDC 2022, it would not be too surprising if Apple chose to launch a new machine at WWDC this year.

Ross Young, CEO of screen supply chain consulting firm DSCC, shared two pieces of information in his latest series of tweets: one is to reconfirm that Apple will launch a 15-inch MacBook Air in April this year; the second is to confirm that the screen refresh rate of both iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models The second is the confirmation that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will still have a 60Hz screen refresh rate.

In a tweet shared with subscribers in February, Ross Young said that Apple is already pushing forward with mass production of the screen, and that Apple is expected to launch the new MacBook Air in early April, but he did not rule out the possibility of an earlier launch.

Young did not provide any other details about the new model, and it’s unclear whether it will come with the M2 chip or the next generation of M3 chips based on the 3nm process.

Another piece of confirmed information is that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will still have a 60Hz screen refresh rate, despite being equipped with the newest “Smart Island” feature. LTPO screen technology.

Ross Young is a very reliable source of information, and he accurately revealed that the iPhone 13 Pro and high-end MacBook Pro models will have ProMotion, the sixth-generation iPad mini will have an 8.3-inch display, and the MacBook Air will have a slightly larger 13.6-inch display. inch display and more.

According to the latest news shared by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple will launch the 15-inch MacBook Air with a larger screen size this year, but will not launch the 12-inch MacBook with Apple Silicone.

Gurman did not reveal any other details about the 15-inch MacBook Air. But Ross Young, CEO of screen supply chain consulting firm DSCC, has said that Apple’s suppliers will begin producing 15.5-inch screen panels for the MacBook Air in the first quarter of 2023, so he speculates that Apple will launch the notebook at a special spring event.

The MacBook Air just underwent a redesign in 2022, so the 15-inch model will be similar or identical in appearance to the existing 13-inch model and will likely feature the M2 and M2 Pro chips.

Gurman previously said Apple had planned to launch a 12-inch MacBook in late 2023 or early 2024, but he said today that the model is no longer on Apple’s recent roadmap.

Apple has released low-end and high-end 12-inch notebooks in the past. At the low end, Apple introduced a slim 12-inch MacBook that weighed just two pounds in 2015, but the notebook was discontinued in 2019. And on the high end, Apple offered a 12-inch PowerBook G4 in the mid-2000s.

Previous 12-inch MacBooks were thermally constrained by the use of Intel processors, but Apple’s Apple Silicon has superior performance per watt, and Apple should theoretically be able to reintroduce an ultra-thin, fanless MacBook if it decides to do so.

Apple is expected to release a new 2022 iPad Pro, Mac mini and MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch products in October this year. In the latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman details the new hardware Apple will release in 2023.

Mark Gurman said, “Next year is jam-packed with new products for Apple. That includes the MacBook Air 15-inch, the new M3 iMac, the Mac Pro, an updated HomePod speaker, the Reality Pro headset and a larger iPad. the company’s combination Apple TV, HomePod and FaceTime camera device could also debut at the end of this year.”

Three new Mac products
According to a report compiled by 9to5Mac, Apple will launch at least three new Macs next year: the MacBook Air 15-inch, the new M3 iMac and the upcoming Mac Pro.

The MacBook Air 15-inch was first reported by DSCC analyst Ross Young. According to the report, Apple plans to launch a new version of the MacBook Air in 2023 with a screen size of about 15 inches. Apple also plans to increase the current MacBook Air 13.3-inch display to a “slightly larger” but still between 13-inch and 14-inch display.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple has skipped the M2 iMac to focus on the new M3 iMac, and it’s not clear if there will be design changes or just some hardware upgrades.

For the Mac Pro, Apple said earlier in the year that it was working on a new high-end Mac device, but no other news from the company has been received.

An updated HomePod is also in development
Gurman reported in June on a new HomePod smart speaker. The new speaker, codenamed B620, will run the same chip as the Apple Watch Series 8, the S8 processor, which is the same speed as the Series 6 chip. It’s not clear how it will perform differently than the A8 chip in the first-generation HomePod.

The S6 processor is about 20 percent faster than its predecessor. Previously, Mark Gurman said.

"The HomePod, codenamed B620, will run the same S8 chip as the watch and will be closer in size and audio performance to the original HomePod than to the new HomePod mini. The new HomePod will have an updated display on top and there's even some talk of multi-touch capabilities. "

Reality Pro headset to finally debut
The long-rumored Apple Glasses glasses are also set to make their debut in 2023. After years of waiting, Apple is likely ready to launch its mixed reality devices next year. In a DSCC paper, analysts believe Apple’s mixed reality headset will feature an “innovative triple-screen configuration,” including two miniature OLED 4K displays and another AMOLED screen for low-resolution peripheral vision. Not only that, it may also include a powerful mobile CPU and GPU in the headset.

According to rumors, the headset will be equipped with a Mac-class chip, and it will be very expensive.

Bigger iPad and Apple TV and HomePod combinations will also be upgraded
Gurman thinks a larger iPad is in the works. It could be 14 inches. About a year ago, it was reported that Apple was exploring a future larger-screen iPad design, saying such a product was “still a few years away,” and then in June, DSCC analyst Ross Young confirmed that timeline while providing more details.

Ross Young had said it was the iPad Pro 14.1-inch but subsequently changed his mind to the iPad 14-inch, which will not come with a Mini-LED display and ProMotion refresh rate.

For the Apple TV + HomePod + FaceTime device, Gurman has talked about the product. It could be a competing product for the Amazon Echo Show.
