Lincoln showed off a concept car inspired by the company’s first luxury sedan, the 1922 Model L, at Monterey Car Week on Thursday, local time.

The Lincoln Model L100 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ford’s acquisition of Lincoln, the concept is a luxury electric sedan with a very futuristic look indeed.

Lincoln Model L100 features a clear hood and a glass roof that opens backward, and doors that open backward like a flower, all the way to the rear of the car.

The car will be equipped with advanced autonomous driving, so instead of a steering wheel and brake pedal, it will have a giant center screen (Lincoln calls it a “chessboard”) that allows passengers to control the car manually by manipulating a miniature model of the car (“chess piece”) on the center screen.

Because driving has been greatly simplified, the Lincoln Model L100 puts the focus on the passenger experience, with the front seats turning directly to the rear, allowing front and rear passengers to communicate face-to-face.

A huge screen mounted on the floor also helps create a cockpit atmosphere, with the display projecting clouds to create a more serene environment.

Lucid is leaning to the dark side with a new kit called Stealth Look. The low-key styling option, with a total of 35 new exterior design cues, will be available on the full range of Air electric vehicles starting this week. These changes include mirror caps, glass roof trim and frames around the headlights and taillights. The platinum paint has been replaced with a “Stealth Polished” dark color.

Lucid says the goal is to infuse the Air, the company’s only model in production, with a darker and distinctly sportier personality.

The Stealth Look will be available as an option on the Air Grand Touring Performance, Air Grand Touring and Air Touring. Depending on the model, Lucid offers either 20-inch or 21-inch wheels with satin black inserts. Buyers can also match the Stealth Look with any exterior color, but for now it’s limited to white, black, silver, gray and red.

Lucid is offering the Stealth Look starting in the first quarter of 2023 and will cost an additional $6,000. The new exterior look will be publicly unveiled at Motorlux on Wednesday, August 17 during Monterey Car Week.

The new kit comes at what is arguably a difficult time for Lucid to announce. The Newark, California-based company recently slashed its production forecast for the second time this year – adjusting its 2022 expectations to 6,000 to 7,000 units.
