Logitech officially announced the integration of ASTRO Gaming, Blue Mics and Logitech for Creator into the Logitech G brand.

Logitech bought gaming headset maker Astro for $85 million in 2017 and microphone maker Blue Microphones for $177 million in 2018.

A fan consulted Logitech officials on this matter, and the brand manager confirmed the cancellation of the Blue brand, and said: “We will continue to retain the Yeti brand and gradually move to the Logitech G brand. The Blue name will be used to describe our related technologies.”

It is found that the description about Blue has been deleted. Visiting the Bluemic.com domain name will jump to the related Logitech product page, and the domestic website still has reservations for the time being. The Logitech G subpage already shows microphone models such as Yeti and Snowball.

Logitech G and Herman Miller have joined forces to launch the Vantum gaming chair. It can be ordered now for $995, which is a significant price difference from the $1500 Embody, and while the Embody collaboration model is a gamer’s tweak on a design already in Herman Miller’s chair catalog, the Vantum appears to be a new chair altogether. It will come in a variety of color options (white, red and black), each with a 12-year warranty.

This is a side view of the Vantum, showing its chest support pads. Herman Miller says this is the first gaming chair to offer this design.

As with the Embody, it’s hard to tell exactly what role Logitech G played in the design of this chair, except perhaps for a few fancy touches.

Jon Campbell, general manager of Herman Miller’s gaming division, mentioned in a press release that the adjustable headrest and thoracic support cushion (which supports the upper back, neck and head in a relaxed state) are important new features offered by Vantum. In fact, Herman Miller says this is the first gaming chair to offer thoracic support cushions.

An image showing the back of the Herman Miller and Logitech Vantum gaming chairs, composed in red and black, with a focus on the new adjustable headrest.

The adjustable headrest is one of the features that sets it apart from the Embody gaming chair, which was a product of a previous collaboration.

In terms of build quality, the companies say the Vantum is made of die-cast aluminum and glass-filled nylon, and its seat upholstery is made of 100 percent post-consumer recycled textiles with “high-performance characteristics. For now, we can’t attest to how it looks and feels because Logitech didn’t offer an early trial.

But if it’s anything like the Embody, or even a notch down in quality and comfort (given the price difference, approximately), it will still get gamers who are looking for a high-end seat upgrade. It’s just a matter of weighing up the cost, since you still need to save up for the RTX 4090 graphics card.

Back in July 2020, Logitech G and the big-name office seating company Herman Miller released a special edition of Herman Miller’s Embody office chair, which did not receive much praise as a co-branded product on the market at the time with a design that was clearly different from the regular gaming chair.

Although Embody is considered one of the most iconic products in the Herman Miller line, the market does not recognize this brand appropriation, and of course, there is the problem of its high price tag of $1495.

Turning to 2022, the two companies are planning to release what they call “ergonomic seating products designed to adapt to the needs of each gamer”. Unlike previous branding-only collaborations, the two companies have apparently worked more closely together this time around and created their “first-ever from-scratch design to support every game mode.

The new chair will be launched on October 6, until then we only have a small teaser image, although there are not many details, the design style is easy to identify it from the hand of Herman Miller, showing what seems to be the back of the chair and lumbar support adjustment wheel.

A few months ago, we reported that the Logitech G Cloud handheld gaming console was to launch with an Xbox game pass. After a series of leaks on the console’s specifications and design, it is finally available for pre-order on the manufacturer’s website. The full specifications and system requirements of this handheld gaming device are also available.

This device is the first console that Logitech G is rolling out, but the company is optimistic that it can perfectly handle the task it’s built for. Its specifications are a bit similar to that of a midrange Android device in terms of processor and operating system. The access to NVIDIA GeForce Now or Xbox Game Pass gaming cloud subscription services makes it stand out from any Android device that critics might compare it with.

The new Logitech G Cloud handheld gaming console comes with a 60Hz 7-inch IPS LCD touch screen display. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor, this is not a problem since the games are available on the cloud. For an immersive audio experience while gaming, the console comes with clear stereo speakers and a microphone.

For its operating system, it runs Android 11 with full support for Google Mobile Service. This is one of the reasons critics tend to compare it with a midrange Android device. It also comes with support for other cloud gaming services like NVIDIA GeForce Now and Xbox Game Pass, so gamers can also enjoy playing some Xbox-exclusive games with this device.

The controls on this handheld gaming console are similar to that on an Xbox wireless controller. Players can as well remap the control to suit their style of play. There are also sensors to help with the haptic feedback while gaming and to control the screen lighting in various conditions.

For connectivity, the new cloud gaming console from Logitech G supports Bluetooth 5.1 as well as Wi-Fi connections. The battery capacity on the device is 23.1Wh and might last a day on a single charge and light gaming. The company doesn’t state much about the storage on this handheld console, but it supports storage expansion with a TF card.

The design of this device is quite fancy and lightweight. There is provision for an arm grip at each side like with a regular gaming pad, this will help gamers access all controls easily. Also, there are four adaptive shoulder buttons, two on each side of this console, for a bit more power while gaming.

Logitech G and Tencent Games have gone into a strategic partnership aimed at producing a cloud gaming device. The outcome of this partnership will hit the market next year. Both companies in this partnership will put in their quota to make this device come to life.

What is to expect from this partnership? Simply put, a gaming console with Logitech G hardware and Tencent software. This console will play games on the cloud, a bit similar to the Xbox game pass and Steam. Logitech in its official statement said that they are working together with Xbox and NVIDIA gaming services. So, we might see some Xbox exclusives on the “Logitech G and Tencent Games” cloud gaming console once available.

Games made available for the coming gaming console will not require download. Since it is a cloud-based service, all games will be available to consumers via streaming. Both parties in this partnership will bring their prowess to bear and deliver something outstanding. Tencent Games’ general manager makes us understand this fact from his press briefing.

In his words, Mr Daniel Wu calls both parties “ideal” partners since their areas of specialization offsets each other. Tencent Games are makers of popular games like PUBG Mobile and League of Legends. Both games along with other action and adventure games under Tencent’s belt make them ideal for the software aspect of this partnership.

Logitech G on its part will steer this partnership concerning its hardware capabilities. The company has a wide array of gaming and streaming gears. It’ll bring this expertise into the making of the hardware for their upcoming handheld gaming console. All we need to do is wait and see what this partnership will bring to the gaming world.
