The latest DSCC report shows that LCD TV panel prices bottomed in September 2022 after a brief rebound in the fourth quarter, prices appear to be in a pressure level pattern. no change in December 2022 and January 2023. While most sizes increased in price in the fourth quarter, the increase was modest.

The report notes that prices for all six screen sizes it tracks were unchanged in December, with the average price in the fourth quarter increasing only 0.5 percent from the average price in the third quarter.

DSCC said it expects prices to remain unchanged again in January and begin to rise slowly in the last month of the quarter (March 2023) as excess inventory in the display supply chain is finally depleted on average in the first quarter.

On average, DSCC expects March prices to be 3.6 percent higher than December prices and expects prices in the first quarter of 2023 to be 2.5 percent higher than prices in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The DSCC expects the industry to recover to some extent after excess inventory in the display supply chain has been cleared. However, as the overall demand recovery in the market will take some time, it cannot be predicted with great certainty that the elimination of inventory means that panel prices will continue to rise.

CINNO Research report shows that in order to curb the disorderly decline in LCD panel prices, the domestic BOE, Huaxing photoelectric, Huike three panel factory average crop rate has dropped to 70% below.

The report points out that the current LCD TV panel inventory level of several major panel factories has been reduced to about 3 to 3.5 weeks, the inventory backlog problem has been significantly alleviated, so the LCD panel price drop in September significantly slowed down, the rate of decline is also in line with previous expectations.

CINNO Research said that although it has come to the second half of the traditional peak season, but due to the strong negative effect of international inflation and other factors, demand rebound is still difficult to see in the short term. On the other hand, due to the new production line to join and completed production line to pull up production capacity, next year the panel factory capacity area is expected to grow 13%-15%, so maintain low crop to stabilize prices as soon as possible during the year to become the mainstream operation.

In addition, the report said that the price of each size panel in August fell in line with previous forecasts, indicating that the panel factory to reduce crop strategy is effective. Is expected in September 32 “- 65” will maintain a small decline of 1-2 U.S. dollars, 75 “significantly narrowed, is expected to bottom out in the fourth quarter.

LG Display has decided to stop producing LCD TV panels for the Korean market by 2023, according to foreign media reports. LG Display reportedly announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2022, with sales revenue reaching 5.6 trillion won (about 28.84 billion yuan) and operating loss reaching 488.3 billion won (about 2.515 billion yuan) in the second quarter. Sales were down 19.5% year-over-year and earnings declined for the first time in two years since the second quarter of 2020.

LGD said the loss was due to weak demand for TV and IT displays, coupled with supply chain problems and China’s closure policy, and shipments failed to meet targets. The company plans to continue and reduce its LCD TV business and stop producing low-margin LCD panels for the Korean TV market; the Chinese LCD plant has also decided to convert some of its TV panel production lines to IT equipment.

It is reported that the company will focus on OLED TV panels and the automotive market, and will work to develop new markets for transparent and gaming OLEDs.
