2022 China Calculus Summit (Jinan) and supercomputing Internet project online ceremony held in the National Supercomputing Jinan Center. Announced the first domestic supercomputing Internet project in Jinan, Shandong Province on line.

According to Jinan, the city of Jinan completed the first international supercomputing science and technology park in 2019, and introduced policy measures such as “Opinions on Accelerating the Development of Supercomputing Industrialization”. At present, Jinan produces the first server production and sales volume in China and the second in the world, the first AI server production and sales volume in the world, the second supercomputing manufacturing in the world, and more than 50% of domestic AI computing power comes from Jinan. 2021 August, the construction of Shanhe supercomputer was completed in Jinan, and topped the latest IO500 list at the 2022 International Supercomputing Conference (ISC2022).

Jinan said, “Through the supercomputing Internet, arithmetic power can be delivered to various cities and enterprises, and the supercomputing Internet has basically completed coverage in all cities in Shandong.”

At present, the National Supercomputing Center in Jinan has mastered the long-range lossless unlimited bandwidth communication technology and realized the communication of supercomputing systems at the level of 500 kilometers across geographical areas, and built the Jinan-Qingdao supercomputing Internet test network, according to Xinhua. At the same time, it has proposed corresponding technical architecture and standards in network situational awareness, arithmetic resource scheduling and user identity authentication.

Supercomputing Internet is a kind of national advanced supercomputing infrastructure based on supercomputers, high-speed Internet and massive data storage. Through these projects, supercomputing centers and big data centers around the world will have the opportunity to realize the interconnection of data and arithmetic power and be integrated into a network of arithmetic power convergence.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) and the U.K. Home Office announced in a recent joint press release that the U.S. and U.K. have signed a data access agreement that will allow each country’s law enforcement agencies to request user Internet data from the other.

The agreement, enacted in 2019 as a CLOUD Act, allows each country to combat serious crimes including terrorism, child abuse and cybercrime, and will take effect on October 3, 2022.

The U.S. Department of Justice said, “The data access agreement will allow us faster access to service provider data in both countries, including information and evidence held in connection with the prevention, detection, investigation or prosecution of serious crimes, among other things.”

The program was first proposed in 2017, with the U.K. Home Office saying at the time that its aim was to create a bilateral agreement that would remove some of those legal barriers and still “provide strict privacy protections for citizens,” and Australia joined the CLOUD bill late last year.
