]]> Igor’s Lab reports that Intel is delaying the launch of its fourth-generation Xeon Scalable Processor, codenamed “Sapphire Rapids”. Of course, this isn’t the first time the project has been delayed. Some of the earliest roadmaps even go back to 1Q 2021 — but we were also expected to welcome Sapphire Rapids-SP by the end of 2022 (4Q).

Igor’s Lab recently pointed out that Intel has delayed the general availability of Sapphire Rapids-SP to early February-early March 2023.

In addition, the family of enterprise processors is said to have up to 12 steps — in addition to the newly discovered E5, there are versions of A0, A1, B0, C0, C1, C2, D0, E0, E2, E3 and E4.

Presumably, Intel sent samples of Sapphire Rapids-SP for validation to various large customers to help them evaluate the performance of these chips in various application scenarios.

Finally, Sapphire Rapids is built on the “Intel 7” process node with up to 60 Golden Cove high-performance CPU cores, DDR5 memory I/O and PCIe 5.0 support, complemented by a variety of on-chip gas pedal IP.
