Recently, a new Honor machine with the model number “VCA-AN00” passed the 3C certification and supports 35W charging power. The blogger @perfect arrangement digital revealed that this new machine is expected to be the Honor Magic Vs2.

Previously, this new machine has obtained the network access permit for telecom equipment. The blogger @王杰百斯通 also revealed that this new phone, code-named Victoria, is Honor’s first outward-folding model, and it’s not a small-screen folding model. Combined with the news of several digital bloggers, this product is expected to be Honor’s first external folding screen phone, but the final name has not yet been determined.

In addition, according to the blogger @Digital chat station, the new Honor folding screen machine adopts a thin and light large-screen folding design, and is positioned to compete with the vertical small folding screens of competitors.

Judging from the published certification information, the Honor Magic Vs2 only supports 35W charging power, which may be related to the “thin and light” positioning of this new phone.

At present, the folding screen manufacturers that adopt the outer folding design on the market are mainly Huawei. The thin and light design of the Huawei Mate Xs 2 phone released by the company last year left a deep impression on everyone.

According to previous reports, the Huawei Mate Xs 2 has a thickness of 11.1 mm after folding, and the thinnest part is only 5.4 mm after unfolding, and the body weighs about 255 grams (the Collector’s Edition weighs about 257 grams). This product is equipped with a screen size of 7.8 inches when unfolded, and a size of 6.5 inches when folded. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 888 processor, a battery capacity of 4600 mAh (typical value), and supports 66W fast charging.

Huawei said at yesterday’s HDC2022 developer conference, Huawei used nearly three years of continuous exploration to make the Huawei Mate50 series a smooth connection to the nine skies dream come true. Therefore, the Huawei Mate 50 series broke through the three core technical challenges of high loss, low power and low gain, and became the world’s first popular smartphone to support BeiDou satellite messages.

Today, Huawei announced that the Beidou satellite messaging feature of the Mate Xs 2 is officially open for public testing!

In September this year, Huawei released the Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro series of cell phones, the new machine equipped with a “upward stab at the sky” technology – satellite messaging, is the world’s first public smartphone to support Beidou satellite messaging.

This feature can break through the restrictions of the ground network, so that in an environment without ground network signal coverage, you can still send messages through the “Beidou Satellite Messaging” service number in the Changlian App to keep in touch with the outside world. Currently, this feature is only available in mainland China, excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

At the launch of the Mate 50 series, Huawei’s “Poke the Sky” technology was officially unveiled: Huawei Mate 50 series supports Beidou satellite messaging hardware capabilities, which allows users to send text and location information outward to contact the outside world when they are in desert no man’s land, in distress at sea, earthquake rescue, and other environments without ground network signal coverage.

Yu Chengdong said that Huawei Mate 50 series phones are the world’s first popular smartphones to support BeiDou satellite messages.

A few days ago, digital blogger “Song Jingting” posted a screenshot of a chat from “Huawei Customer Service”, which mentioned whether other models can support satellite communication through a software upgrade. Other models cannot support this feature through software upgrades.

According to this, Huawei Mate Xs 2 should be integrated in advance with hardware capabilities, but or because it is still being tested and other reasons, before first shielded by software.

It is reported that Huawei Mate Xs 2 is the industry’s first phone to support tri-band Wi-Fi, supporting dual 5GHz bands + 2.4GHz bands, with a theoretical peak rate of 4Gbps, which Yu Chengdong previously introduced: “This is currently the fastest phone for Wi-Fi”.

Core configuration, Huawei Mate Xs 2 with 7.8-inch screen, the resolution of 2480 * 2200, folded state screen size of 6.5 inches, equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G processor, priced from RMB 9,999.

Huawei foldable are reigning supreme in the Chinese foldable market. Data collection within China in the month of May showed the wide acceptance of Huawei foldable devices in the country. Three of the company’s devices are in the top 3 spots on the list of foldable devices. The three devices are the Huawei Mate X2, P50 Pocket, and Mate Xs 2.

Huawei Mate X2

Huawei foldable: Mate X2

The Huawei Mate X2 is the company’s first commercial attempt at an inward folding device. This device became official in the month of February 2021 and went on sale after its launch. This device uses a different folding mechanism in comparison with other foldable from Huawei. But unlike its close competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, this device uses a crease-free hinge.

The thickness of this device reduces towards the left folding half, hence shifting its centre of gravity for a better grip. It uses the Kirin 9000 chip and has a memory configuration of 8GB/256GB and 8GB/512GB. It runs EMUI 11.0 running on Android 10 but launched a second time with HarmonyOS.

Huawei P50 Pocket

Huawei foldable: P50 Pocket

The second device on the list is the Huawei P50 Pocket, which is the first Huawei foldable with a clamshell design. After the launch of the P50 series, leaks and rumours regarding a coming flip folding device from Huawei spread. This wasn’t the first time we heard of such rumours, but with this wave, the rumours got more precise. About four months after the launch of the P50 series, Huawei released the P50 Pocket.

It has a similar camera setup to devices in the P50 series but has the form factor of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. In China, the P50 Pocket launched with HarmonyOS 2.0 out of the box, but Europe received EMUI 12. Below its circular cutouts is a secondary display that can handle some quick widgets activities. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G powers this foldable device.

Huawei Mate Xs 2

Huawei foldable: Mate Xs 2

The most recent foldable from the Chinese tech giant also made the top 3 best-selling foldable devices in China. Huawei Mate Xs 2 took Huawei’s original outward folding design. This device is by far one of the flattest folding devices in the world. It weighs 255g and has a thickness of 5.4mm when unfolded, this measurement carries along the better half of the foldable.

It comes with a triple camera setup housing 50MP, 8MP, and 13MP lenses. Furthermore, it comes with HarmonyOS 2.0 out of the box and uses the Snapdragon 888 4G processor. Some argue that this device’s features cannot justify its price, but its sale in China shows otherwise.

Huawei is still showing its resilience despite the relentless sanctions from the US government. Its performance in the Chinese market shows that if given the opportunity, it will again soar to great heights in the global market. The Huawei Mate 50 series will launch in a few months, its features will be made known towards the launch event.

Huawei Mate Xs 2

Huawei Mate Xs 2 is the most recent foldable smartphone from Huawei, and it has a unique folding mechanism. This device is the successor to the two-year-old Mate Xs, and they both share an outward folding mechanism. The Huawei Mate Xs 2 launched today with beefed-up specs and runs Harmony OS out of the box.

The Mate Xs 2 has an outward folding OLED display measuring 7.8 inches when unfolded. When folded it measures 6.5 inches, this size is ideal for one-hand usage. Unlike the previous model, the Huawei Mate Xs 2 has a 10MP selfie camera on the top far right-hand edge of the screen. Previous Mate Xs models used the main camera as a selfie camera when folded. The rear camera of the Mate Xs 2 houses a triple setup which consists of a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide and an 8MP telephoto camera capable of achieving 3x optical and 30x digital zoom. The Mate Xs 2 rear cameras promise more stable images when taking pictures with shaky hands, this is due to the presence of OIS.

Huawei Mate Xs 2

Huawei is leading in the production of quality hinges on foldable devices, and it showed its prowess on the Mate Xs 2. This device has an improved and more durable hinge whilst correcting a flaw present on the Mate Xs. Since this device folds outward when placed to rest it lies on its screen hence the screen could easily scratch. The Mate Xs 2 has a fortified polymer-covered display which has a four-layer structure to reduce scratches and any dent that could be flaw the folded display.

Snapdragon 888 4G powers this device and is paired with 8/12GB RAM and 256/512GB ROM. The lower 8GB storage will sell at 9,999 yuan while the 12GB storage cost 12,999 yuan, sale of these devices will start on the 6th of May in China. The Mate Xs 2 runs Harmony OS 2.0 out of the box and has support for the Huawei M-pen 2s stylus. The battery capacity on this device is a 4,880mAh battery which charges at a speed of 66W.

Huawei MatePad SE

Huawei MatePad SE

A budget tablet also hit the stage during the Mate Xs 2 event. The MatePad SE 10.1 inch IPS LCD tablet uses the Kirin 710A chipset. Just like the Mate Xs 2 it also runs Harmony OS 2.0 out of the box. For the camera, it has a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. The 5100mAh battery on the MatePad SE charges at 10W. This device has two variants with the same 4/128GB storage, the first variant is the Wi-Fi only model (priced at 1,500 yuan) and the second is the Cellular network model (priced at 1,699 yuan).

Huawei Mate Xs 2 To Launch With an Outward Folding Display https://www.techgoing.com/huawei-mate-xs-2-to-launch-with-an-outward-folding-display/ Fri, 22 Apr 2022 11:13:56 +0000 https://www.techgoing.com/?p=891 Chinese tech giant Huawei are set to launch a few devices on April 28. Among these is the Huawei Mate XS 2 with it's outward folding design.

]]>
Judging from the Huawei Mate Xs 2, we can affirm that the company never gave up on the outward folding design. Information from Huawei’s poster shows that they will be holding a launch event on April 28 and that a total of three devices will be in the spotlight. First the Mate Xs 2, then the Huawei Band 7 and lastly, the Smart Screen V Pro. In this article, we will dwell on the foldable device that will soon launch.

The Huawei Mate Xs 2 is the successor to the Mate Xs from 2020. The Mate X foldable devices have long featured an outward folding design. The Mate X started the trend, it was shortly followed by the Mate Xs. People criticized these devices for having an outward folding design, unlike the inward folding design present on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. The next foldable from Huawei made people feel that Huawei had abandoned the outward folding mechanism. The Huawei Mate X2 used the inward folding design, but it made it better by using a self-designed hinge that eliminated an age-long problem with the Samsung foldable, the centre crease.

From leaked images, we can be certain that Huawei never abandoned its outward folding design. Like previous Mate X devices, the Huawei Mate Xs 2 will have just one large display. The screen size on this device might be similar to the Mate Xs 8-inch screen. This device will have two scenarios, the first being a tablet form-factor and the second being a normal smartphone (when folded). When it comes to processing power, the Mate Xs 2 will use the Kirin 9000 chip, but it might also offer a variant which will use the Snapdragon 888.

The tipster who leaked the images of the Huawei Mate Xs 2 mentioned a few things that we should expect from this device. The screen has holes, and has three colour options: Purple, Black and White. The screen adds multiple buffer layers to improve the anti-drop ability. The conference might showcase this added strength. This will be done in the form of a drop test. Camera abilities at the rear pixel sport a triple camera setup with 50MP, 13MP wide-angle, and an 8MP telephoto camera. There is no information available as to the full specs or price of this device, but we do know that it’ll launch on April 28.
