Google released the Pixel 7a phone in May this year, equipped with a Tensor G2 processor. According to the latest information shared by source kamila (@Za_Raczke), the Pixel 7a is equipped with a Tensor G2 derivative, which is not as performant as the G2 in the Pixel 7 series.

Kamila pointed out in a tweet that creating an integrated circuit is not simply attaching a bare die, and the packaging process is also an important part of it.

The Tensor G2 processor on the Pixel 7a uses the “IPOP” packaging scheme; while the Pixel 7 series uses the “FOPLP” packaging scheme.

The IPOP packaging process is more cost-effective, thicker, larger and generates more heat than FOPLP.

Pixel 7a and Pixel 7 series adopt different heat dissipation schemes, and it is impossible to compare and determine the impact of heat dissipation on actual performance at this stage.

Just in time for the release of the new Pixel 7a, Google is preparing to launch a new ringtone for its Pixel phone, bringing a Kenny G-style saxophone serenade.

Almost every time Google releases a new phone, it offers new ringtones to give buyers a fresh experience on their new Pixel phones. The Pixel 7 series, comes in the form of “Nature Elements” ringtones, alarms, and notifications, which are made up of nature sounds.

These ringtones are available on all Pixel phones with an update to the Sounds app. It is worth noting that the collection of various ringtones, alarms and notifications (different from each other) is not included in the app itself, but is downloaded from Google servers during preview/settings.

With the release of the Pixel 7a, version 3.1 of the Sounds Ringtones app started rolling out to Pixel users via the Google Play Store, and the update introduces just one new ringtone, Kenny Gingtone.

The feature does not currently allow users to customize the level of vibration intensity that can be reduced.

Google also recently released a support document for the feature, but the document does not explain how Adaptive Notification Vibration works, only how to turn it on.

Google had hidden the “Adaptive Notification Vibration” beta feature on the Pixel phone Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1, but it was not officially launched for other Pixel phones.

The relevant configuration, Google Pixel 7a new phone equipped with a Tensor G2 chip, with a 6.1-inch FHD + gOLED display, supports 90Hz refresh rate, with a 4385mAh battery, and 18W wired charging + 7.5W wireless charging; using 64MP main camera + 13MP ultra-wide angle dual camera, front 13MP lens; support IP67 dust and water resistance, weighs 193g, and supports under-screen fingerprint, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, and more.

Google will launch flagship Pixel phones every year, as well as more affordable Pixel A series phones. The Pixel A series of phones has always been loved by consumers because of their performance and price advantages. However, it was recently reported that Google may launch the last Pixel A-series phone this year – the Pixel 7a.

According to whistleblower Yogesh Brar, Google will not launch the Pixel 8a because the difference between the Pixel A series phones and the flagship Pixel phones is getting smaller and smaller. Judging from the specifications of the currently circulating Pixel 7a, this statement seems to have some truth. The Pixel 7a and Pixel 7 have nearly identical specs, with some differences in screen size and cameras. In terms of price, the Pixel 7a is also $50 higher than its predecessor, Pixel 6a, reaching $499, which is only $100 cheaper than Pixel 7. In this case, it doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense for Google to go ahead and release two phones that are so similar.

Yogesh Brar also said that Google will replace the Pixel A series of phones in its product line with an annual foldable phone. The foldable phone will be a successor to the upcoming Pixel Fold. However, it also means that it will be difficult for consumers to buy a Pixel phone under $500.

For users who like the Pixel A series of phones, this news is undoubtedly a blow. While there are plenty of other low-priced options on the market, the Pixel A-series phones always feel solid and solid, and offer great value for money. If this is indeed their last year, then we can only hope that Google will bring us better products.
