Users and AI conversation records should have been private, but according to the X platform an analytical consultant found that some users use Google Bard conversation records content, appearing in Google public search results.

It is reported that when Google expanded the deployment of the Bard AI tool in July this year, added the function of “sharing conversation links”. Users can export their conversations with Bard as web links and share them with others so that they can continue their conversations with Bard.

Gagan Ghotra, an analytics consultant for the X platform, discovered that Google incorrectly indexed some of the links shared by users in its search results, leading to the release of sensitive information.

Gagan Ghotra, accordingly, warned users not to share any “private content” while conversing with Bard, or the information may be leaked.

Google search public relations department responded that Bard allows users to share links, but the premise is that this is the user’s “voluntary”. Google claimed that “its search engine has never indexed these shared links”, and staff are currently working to remove these inappropriate search results.

In March, OpenAI’s ChatGPT also briefly leaked user conversations, prompting OpenAI to add the ability to allow users to turn off the recording of ChatGPT conversations.

As generative AI services such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft’s Bing Chat and Google Bard are increasingly used as substitutes for search engines, they have also encountered resistance from some individuals and companies. , these website developers do not want their website data to be used for AI model training.

Today, Google announced a new way for website developers to choose to allow its Bard and Vertex AI services to access their content, or to opt out of using these APIs to train models.

In a blog post, Google announced the launch of Google-Extended, a new control that website developers can use to manage their sites with the help of Bard and Vertex AI.

Websites can currently provide disavowal lists via robots.txt, and Google believes that all AI model providers should provide this similar method of transparency and control. However, as AI applications expand, websites will face the increasing complexity of managing different uses at scale. Google said it will share more information soon.

It is found from Google support documents that Google-Extended does not have a separate HTTP request user agent (UA) string, and the crawling is completed through the existing Google UA string; robots.txt user-agent token can be used Take control.

In addition to today’s announcement, Google said it will “explore other machine-readable ways to provide selection and control for sites.” It includes a link where sites can sign up for a mailing list where they will receive Additional updates about Google’s improved website controls.

According to Reuters, four people familiar with the matter said that while Google parent company Alphabet is promoting its chatbot Bard globally, it is also reminding employees to be careful when using chatbots, including its own Bard.

Alphabet has advised employees not to enter their confidential material into an artificial intelligence chatbot, the people said, a fact Google confirmed, saying it is a long-standing policy to protect information.

Alphabet also reminded its engineers to avoid directly using computer code generated by chatbots, some of people said. Google said that Bard may give inappropriate code suggestions, but it can still help programmers. Google also said it aimed to be transparent about the limitations of its technology.

Google’s caution also reflects a trend in corporate security standards that warns employees not to use publicly available chat programs. A growing number of businesses around the world have put in place safeguards against AI chatbots, including Samsung, Amazon and Deutsche Bank. The same is reportedly true for Apple, but the company did not respond to a request for comment.

According to a survey conducted by the social networking site Fishbowl, 43% of professionals were using ChatGPT or other AI tools in January of this year, many of them without telling their bosses. The survey included nearly 12,000 respondents, including some employees from top U.S. companies.

it is noticed that Google is currently promoting Bard to more than 180 countries, and Google also stated in the privacy statement updated on June 1: “Do not include confidential or sensitive information in your Bard conversations.”

Google will have to delay its plans to launch its artificial intelligence chatbot Bard in the European Union after the EU’s main data regulator raised privacy concerns.

The Irish Data Protection Board said Tuesday that Google currently provides insufficient information about how Bard complies with EU data privacy rules to prove its compliance with EU law. The Irish Data Protection Board is Google’s primary data regulator in the EU under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Google recently informed the Irish Data Protection Board that they intend to launch Bard in the EU this week,” said Graham Doyle, vice chairman of the Irish Data Protection Board, but said the board “has not received any detailed briefings to date, nor has it seen any data protection impact assessment or any supporting documentation.”

The Irish regulator said they requested and are waiting for a detailed assessment from Google to answer additional questions “as a matter of urgency” about how Bard complies with EU data protection rules. Doyle said, “Bard will not be launched this week.” He said the issue is under “ongoing review” and that the regulator will share the information with other European data agencies as soon as possible.

It is noted that Google has rolled out Bard to 180 countries since March, including the U.S. and the U.K., but not to the European Union, where the region’s powerful privacy regulator has previously filed charges against ChatGPT for mishandling people’s data and lacking a basis to legalize its algorithms under the GDPR.

We said in May that we want to make Bard more widely available, including in the EU, and we will do so responsibly after engaging with experts, regulators and policymakers,” a Google spokesperson said. As part of that process, we’ve been communicating with privacy regulators to address their questions and listen to feedback.”

According to leaked internal documents, artificial intelligence will become the central theme of Google’s developer conference Google I/O this year. The company plans to release a series of generative artificial intelligence (AIGC) function updates, including the launch of general Large Language Models (LLM).

This internal document shows that Google will launch its latest and most advanced LLM – PaLM 2. PaLM 2 supports more than 100 languages and operates internally under the codename “Unified Language Model”. Google also gives it extensive coding and math tests, as well as creative writing tests and analysis.

At the event, Google will announce how artificial intelligence can “help people reach their full potential,” including “generative experiences” with Bard and search, the documents also show. Sundar Pichai, chief executive of Google and its parent company Alphabet, will speak to developers on hand about the company’s advances in artificial intelligence.

Google’s update comes amid heightened competition in the artificial intelligence space, with both the company and Microsoft racing to incorporate chat AI technology into their products. Microsoft is using its investment in ChatGPT creator OpenAI to bolster its Bing search engine, while Google has moved quickly to try to integrate its Bard technology across different teams and launch its own LLM.

Google first announced the PaLM Language model in April 2022. In March, the company unveiled an API for PaLM, along with a set of AI enterprise tools it says will help companies “generate text, images, code, video, audio, and more from simple natural language prompts.”

Last month, Google said its medical LLM, dubbed “Med-PaLM 2,” could answer “expert doctor-level” medical exam questions with 85 percent accuracy.

Google also plans to share progress made with Bard and search, offering what it calls “generative experiences,” including using Bard for coding, math and “logic,” and expanding to Japanese and Korean, the documents show. Google has been working on a series of more powerful Bard models and officially rolled them out as an experiment in March.

Google is also internally developing a version of its multimodal model called “Multi-Bard,” which uses larger data sets and can help with complex math and coding problems, according to another internal document. Additionally, Google tested versions called “Big Bard” and “Giant Bard.”

Google also plans to expand its “Workspace AI collaborator” to include discussions on template generation in Worksheets and image generation in Slides and Meet products. In March, the company said it would give a small group of users access to artificial intelligence features in Gmail and Google Docs as part of a test, and plans to introduce more generative features in its meetings, sheets and slides apps. AI features.

One of the images shows a slideshow sidebar with a chat box that allows users to enter text and optionally create an image based on that text. Other updates include use cases for image recognition tool Google Lens. Google will show improvements to its camera and voice “multi-search” technology, following last year when it allowed users to ask what was in an image they were looking at.

Earlier reports said that outside of the field of artificial intelligence, Google will show off its new foldable phone, the Pixel Fold. The company claims that the Pixel Fold will have “the most durable hinge ever on a foldable phone,” and will offer a phone trade-in option. Google claims that the biggest selling points of Pixel Fold are waterproof and only pocket size.

After the user clicks on the text link, the Edge browser automatically enters split-screen mode and automatically compares the responses from Bard and Bing Chat.

Citing foreign tech media NeoWin, this implantation of Microsoft’s recommendations is nothing new, but it is a reasonable solution to let users know which product is better by comparing them. This is much better than the banner implanted on the Chrome download page a few months ago.

Google’s parent company Alphabet has integrated its artificial intelligence (AI) research team into a division, which is the company’s latest move to avoid falling behind in the AI race.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said in a blog post on Thursday that the change would combine Google Research’s brain team and Alphabet’s AI company DeepMind into one unit. DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis will lead the newly combined division. Meanwhile, James Manyika, Google’s senior vice president of technology and society, will take over as Google’s head of research. Sundar Pichai said the department will continue its work in areas such as privacy and security, quantum computing, health, climate and responsible AI.

“Combining all of this talent into a dedicated team, backed by Google’s computing resources, will greatly accelerate our progress in AI,” Sundar Pichai said. He said the creation of the new unit would ensure “bold and responsible development of general AI”.

Phoenix Network Technology “AI Outpost” has learned that as part of the restructuring, the executive responsible for Google’s AI and research work Jeff Dean (Jeff Dean) will leave management. Dean will take on the new position of Google’s chief scientist, working with Google Research and DeepMind to develop new, more powerful AI systems, and won’t be in charge of a large team, people familiar with the matter said. He will report directly to Sundar Pichai.

London-based DeepMind, formerly an Alphabet subsidiary, has long been known for regularly rolling out AI breakthroughs, including its work on AlphaFold. AlphaFold is a technology that can predict the shape of proteins. DeepMind also launched AlphaGo, a software that can teach itself the strategy game Go better than any human on Earth. Internally, the division is often seen as a group working on AI concepts that might not directly apply to Google products.

At the same time, Google Research is responsible for the “Transformer” technology, which is a key building block of large language models. This technology powers current chatbots, including Google’s “Bard” and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Now, Google’s reorganization appears to bring these AI research efforts under the DeepMind umbrella, marking a closer integration with the rest of Alphabet. Alphabet announced in its fourth-quarter earnings report in February that DeepMind would be included in Alphabet’s corporate costs starting this year to reflect how the technology was being integrated into other businesses, rather than as “other bets” with less immediate impact (other Bets) investment category.

In February, Alphabet hastily announced the launch of “Bard,” a rival to ChatGPT. On Feb. 8, the company lost $100 billion in market value after Bard shared inaccurate information in a promotional video and a company event that failed to impress investors.

Some of Google’s efforts to rush out generative AI products to compete with OpenAI’s success have reportedly left employees feeling demoralized. Employees say Google is compromising on misinformation and other harms to match the massive success of ChatGPT.
