According to reports, the single-layer lens full-color AR diffractive waveguide display module launched by Goertek this time has a FOV of 28°. Under the premise of low power consumption, the eye-catching brightness can still be as high as 700nits. The usage scenarios include AR navigation, audio and video Entertainment, interactive collaboration, etc. Its optical engine uses LCoS technology, with a volume of less than 1cc and weight as low as 1.6g. It claims to be the smallest and lightest full-color display optical engine module. The module uses Goertek’s single-layer full-color diffractive optical waveguide lens, and the thickness of the lens is only 0.7mm.

Another Micro LED single-green diffractive waveguide display module, with FOV of 30°, eye-catching brightness higher than 1500nits, equipped with a small optical engine and diffractive waveguide lens with a volume of about 0.3cc, suitable for AR applications such as cycling and information prompts Scenes.

It was reported that Apple CEO Tim Cook was dissatisfied with the bloated appearance of his company’s first MR device and hoped to develop a glasses-like MR device. This kind of small AR display module may be a breakthrough for head-mounted devices to eliminate bulky and bulky appearance.

At last year’s Snapdragon Summit 2022, Qualcomm unveiled its new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, its top application processor (AP), and the Snapdragon AR2 Gen 1 platform for augmented reality (AR) experiences for smart glasses and other head-mounted devices.

Goertek announced a lightweight AR smartglasses reference design powered by Qualcomm’s first-generation Snapdragon AR2 platform. This is the only Snapdragon AR2 AR glasses reference design that is currently aimed at mass production and supports the Snapdragon Space platform.

Compared to the Qualcomm XR2 platform AR glasses reference design released by Goer last year, the reference design is smaller and thinner, with a 12.8 percent reduction in frame thickness, a 30 percent reduction in leg height, and an overall weight of less than 100g.

It is equipped with the upgraded free-form optical module, the user’s eye vertical field of view is increased by 50%, with 38 ° display FOV, a better visual experience; its hinge uses a new design scheme, the legs can be folded and unfolded flexible return, more comfortable to wear; support for high-speed Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and Qualcomm Snapdragon Space X developer platform.

According to the introduction, this lightweight AR glasses reference design is the third generation of AR glasses reference design developed by Goer and Qualcomm since the cooperation in 2015, which is dedicated to meeting the needs of enterprises and consumers in different product levels and segments and helping end-brand manufacturers to quickly develop lightweight AR smart glasses with excellent performance in mass production.
