]]> SEMI released a report, said from 2022 to 2025, the global semiconductor manufacturer’s 300mm Fab factory capacity is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 10% to reach a record high of 9.2 million wafers per month.]

The report cites strong demand for automotive semiconductors and new government funding and incentive programs in several regions as key growth factors.

Currently, GlobalFoundries, Intel, Micron, Samsung, SkyWater Technology, TSMC and Texas Instruments have announced that new Fab fabs will be up and running in 2024 or 2025 to meet growing demand.

SEMI President and CEO Ajit Manocha said that while some chip shortages have eased, other chip supplies remain tight and the semiconductor industry is expanding 300mm fab capacity to lay the foundation for meeting long-term demand for a wide range of emerging applications.
