“Peppa Pig: World Adventure” developer Pettons Studio recently explained why the corresponding character still appeared in the game after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. In “Peppa Pig: World Adventure”, players can travel to famous locations around the world, including Paris, Australia, London and more.

In the London chapter, Peppa Pig, family and friends visit Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen. When the game was officially released last month, a video went viral on foreign social media. In the video, Peppa Pig and the queen jumped around in a puddle together, and then turned to a black screen with the words “in mourning” appearing in memory of the Queen of England.

David Moral, the chief producer of the game, said in an interview with the media: “Unfortunately, the Queen died when the game was still in the development stage. At that time, we had already added the role of the Queen to the game and completed the trip to London. We had a discussion about how to approach that, and there were different options. We could delete the trip, and we could delete the Queen.”

Moral said that he thinks everyone is happy to accept the game’s retention of the Queen’s character: “Although she is no longer there, people and children all over the world can meet the Queen and learn about her through this game.”

Publisher Outright Games’ producer Ester Zanon also said the decision to keep the character was made quickly. She said that when the queen passed away, everyone on the development team thought the character should be kept because “it’s not fair to cut her. She is history for each of us”.

Moral also said that removing London from the game would be undesirable, as it would reduce the content and fun of the game. He said: “I think as long as the children can enjoy the game in the end, that is the most important thing.”

According to the latest policy change recently announced by the company, the RoboLex platform will now hide ads carried in the platform’s content from users aged 13 and under. The policy change comes nearly a year after the Truth in Advertising (TINA) organization filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and issued a report on RoboForex’s advertising policies for minors.

TINA says that in Robleth “…… ads were surreptitiously pushed to hundreds of millions of consumers, including more than 25 million children and teens, by numerous companies and their avatar influencers. That number may be inaccurate because Robleth has failed to establish any meaningful measures to ensure compliance with advertising laws for truthfulness.”

The nonprofit added that in October 2022, it issued a follow-up report to the FTC, again calling out Robleth for failing to adequately change its advertising standards at that time.

At the time, TINA said, “Children on Robleth were not segregated from the full range of advertising materials; they were only blocked from advertising by 3 marketers who responsibly chose a higher age range to match their advertising strategy.”

This new advertising policy change for Robleth includes a ban on

  • Ads that solicit charitable donations.
  • Ads that promote multi-level marketing companies or their products.
  • Ads promoting financial services (tax preparation or credit monitoring).
  • Advertisements promoting cryptocurrencies and NFTs.

In addition, Roblex has provided guidance on how developers can comply with its updated advertising standards.

According to Nikkei News learned that the Japanese government is ready to strengthen the consumption tax levied on overseas mobile games.

The Japanese government reportedly plans to impose an obligation to pay consumption taxes on platform companies such as Apple and Google, which operate between game creators and consumers by providing content on app stores.

Japan is expected to follow the European model and design its own system for taxing the tech giants’ games.

About half of the top 100 smartphone games sold in Japan in 2022 were developed by foreign companies, with the largest number coming from Chinese companies, according to U.S. research firm Sensor Tower. In some cases, the creators of these games are not paying Japanese tax authorities the consumption taxes they receive from Japanese users.

Because many foreign game companies are small and medium-sized businesses, they do not have offices in Japan, which makes it difficult for Japanese tax authorities to collect taxes.
