Donkey Kong” is a classic arcade game and a well-known IP of Nintendo. recently, the National Toy Museum in New York announced that it will display a 20-foot-tall (about 6 meters) giant “Donkey Kong” arcade on June 30, so that visitors can experience the charm of this game firsthand. Nintendo is also reportedly providing guidance and support for this project.

The arcade cabinet, which will be fully installed for museum visitors to play on June 30, has a control unit at a normal height so people can play without climbing a ladder.

The Donkey Kong game was first released in 1981, and Mario made his debut in the game when he was called Jumpman and Mr. Video. The main character of the game is a gorilla named Donkey Kong, which captures Mario’s girlfriend Pauline and imprisons her on the top floor of the building. Mario must dodge barrels and fireballs thrown down by Donkey Kong, climb a ladder and eventually rescue Pauline.

This giant Donkey Kong arcade will be one of the largest playable arcades in the world and may break the Guinness World Record. Currently, the tallest arcade in the Guinness Book of World Records is a 16-foot (about 4.9 meters) tall Tetris arcade. There is also an NBA JAM arcade of the same height that was unveiled at CES 2020.

The National Toy Museum in New York is a museum dedicated to gaming in all its forms and is home to the World Video Game Hall of Fame. Each year, the museum adds new titles to the Hall of Fame, and the 2022 inductees include such classics as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Dance Dance Revolution.
