According to the description, only a tool is needed to open this notebook on the side.

Once inside the notebook, you’ll see that the components are all connected via card slots, allowing for quick changes and upgrades.

Dell says that traditional notebooks use screws, glue and various soldered components to connect and can take more than an hour to disassemble during recycling. With Dell’s improved Concept Luna design, Dell has reduced disassembly time to minutes. Dell even commissioned a micro-factory to guide Dell’s design team to create a robot that can be disassembled quickly and easily.

Dell says that because customers use their laptops in different ways, not all components will reach their life expectancy at the same time. Dell Concept Luna can quickly replace individual components as they break to optimize the life of the notebook. Some replacement components can also be recycled, refurbished and repurposed, further reducing e-waste.

The Dell Concept Luna is currently in the concept stage, and Dell says it will move toward that goal.
