At the same time as the official launch of the Ryzen 7000 series, AMD has finally confirmed and announced its exclusive overclocking technology “EXPO” for DDR5 memory, known as “AMD Extended Profiles for Overclocking”. The full name is “AMD Extended Profiles for Overclocking”. In memory overclocking technology, Intel XMP has always been the industry standard, XMP 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 are three versions corresponding to DDR3, DDR4, DDR5, but due to platform restrictions, only with Intel Core processors to complete support, AMD Raron platform can only be disguised by the motherboard manufacturers to provide some support, naturally unable to fully release the memory performance potential.

AMD EXPO is benchmarked against Intel XMP 3.0, with Raider 7000 processors and AM5 600 series motherboards to achieve one-touch overclocking of DDR5 memory and provide complete overclocking parameter settings that gamers can freely adjust.

The official claim is that EXPO technology can obtain up to 11% performance improvement at 1080p resolution while latency is reduced to approximately 63ns.

AMD also stressed that EXPO technology is completely free to license and will not charge any fees to motherboard and memory manufacturers.

Memory brands that have already supported AMD EXPO technology include ADATA, Corsair, Gold Bond, Chips, and Kingston, and will launch at least 15 products with pre-set frequencies up to 6400MHz for the first time.

After the debut of DDR5 memory in the 12th generation Core, the higher frequency of DDR5 has also become a new plaything for high rollers to hit the limit. The last memory overclocking record was set by ASUS at 10110MHz, and now Gigabyte has joined forces with high rollers hicookie to use a custom DDR5 memory overclocked to 10224MHz, and a new record is born.

After the DDR5 memory frequency exceeds 10,000MHz, it will be difficult to boost the latter. This time, hicookie was able to boost the overclocking record again largely by special DDR5 memory – they got Intel’s custom DDR5 memory sticks, and the capacitors on the front PCB were changed to the capacitors on the front PCB were changed to the back side, which made it easier to install liquid nitrogen cooling and eventually achieved a new overclocking record.

The actual frequency of the previous 10110MHz memory was 5050MHz, this time the actual frequency of 10224MHz is at 5111.7MHz, an actual frequency increase of 61.7MHz with timing of 46-57-46-103.

The overclocked platform is a Core i9-12900K processor and Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Tachyon motherboard, I don’t know if there will be a higher record coming out later.
