A pair of ‘baby’ camouflaged Jeeps were spotted by CarScoop’s spy photographers and their snaps confirm what was seen of this car a few days ago. These spy shots and the Stellantis underpinnings suggest that Jeep is launching its smallest car and that car would be fully electric. The photos also confirmed the rumour that the vehicle would probably use the Jeepster nameplate.

Baby EV Jeep seen under wraps

EV Jeep: First impressions

While the exterior was fully camouflaged the interior too was fully covered to save surprises when the car finally unveils probably later this year. The wrap does not let one make out at the first glance that the car is a Jeep, but when closely examined one gets to identify a lot many similarities with the design details revealed in the official sketches published in March last year. The camouflaging could hide the colours but not the muscular build of the car, which looks squared off. Add to this, the wide wheel arches and the very short overhangs. In one of the photos, the car is seen to be considerably taller than the 2023 Opel Astra EV parked right beside it. Yet it would be a tad stouter than Jeep Renegade.

Baby EV Jeep: Design elements

The slightly squared look of the car is contributed by the pronounced front and rear renders above the wheel arches. The car seems to carry a heavy dose of plastic cladding all over its body and would probably have aluminum-style skid plates. The modernized window bears a strong C-pillar and carries the small SUV segment trademark of a duo-tone treatment. A major part of the rear bumper seems to be protected with a plastic cladding that presumably is unpainted. The vehicle’s design elements gear it up to offer tough competition to the ubiquitous Suzuki Jimmy. At the rear, the form of the LED taillights seems to draw some inspiration from the larger Jeep Renegade. Certainly, the SUV would look much better with the wraps off when it discloses more of its jagged look.
