Although Audi’s RS series sedans and station wagons have always been known for their performance, their exterior designs are often somewhat conventional and lack the passion they deserve. However, the new RS5 Avant, due to be released later this year or early 2025, will completely change that. Judging from the spy photos, the new car will outperform the BMW M3 Touring and Mercedes-Benz C63 Touring in terms of aura.

First of all, let’s look at the width of this car. It can be described as “exaggerated”. It is much wider than the standard A5 Avant. The wide front fender even accommodates an air vent located behind the front wheel. The rear wheel arches look like temporary extensions, but the expanded wheelbase indicates that the rear fenders of the official version will be equally wide.

It is noticed that this is not the first time that spy photos of the RS5 have been exposed, but the latest prototype has unveiled part of its camouflage, revealing a double diamond-shaped mesh grille and huge air intakes on both sides. In addition, the new car is equipped with five-spoke forged alloy wheels and Audi’s latest matrix LED headlights, whose LED light segments can be lit individually to provide different lighting patterns and information displays.

It’s worth noting that the car will be called the RS5 rather than the RS4, as Audi plans to use even-numbered names for its all-electric models and odd-numbered names for its gas-powered models. Although there will definitely be a pure electric RS4 launched in the future, the fuel station wagon in front of us will be called RS5, continuing the naming method of the previous two-door coupe A5 and four-door coupe A5 Sportback high-performance models.

The changes to RS5 are not only in appearance, the power system will also be upgraded. The new car will use a hybrid system and will continue to use a 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 engine, adding a hybrid system that can significantly increase the current power output of 450 horsepower and improve fuel efficiency.

It is currently unknown how Audi will adjust its plug-in hybrid system. Whether it will prioritize increasing power at the expense of pure electric range, or whether it will seek a balance. What’s certain, though, is that the RS5 will need a huge power boost if it’s to compete with the 680-horsepower AMG C63.

interest.

Recently, Audi officially released a set of preview images of the RS e-tron GT Performance. As the flagship model in the Audi e-tron GT series, the new car will be equipped with dual-motor four-wheel drive. The maximum power will exceed the 646 horsepower of the RS e-tron GT. The new car will be released later this year.

From the appearance, the new car is equipped with a new aerodynamic package. The two sides of the front are equipped with larger air intakes than the Audi RS e-tron GT and have a deflector design. The lower part is also equipped with an inverted trapezoidal air inlet, which can provide sufficient cooling airflow for brakes and other components.

Looking from the side of the body, the new car is equipped with brand-new blackened five-spoke wheels, which adopt a low-wind resistance design and are supplemented by dense silver trim, which looks full of science fiction. There is a guide groove design behind the wheel, and the charging socket is above it. In addition, the new car will also be equipped with blackened rearview mirrors to further enhance the sporty feel.

Looking at the rear of the car, the diffuser shape has been adjusted to look more combative. In other aspects, it basically continues the styling of the RS e-tron GT, equipped with through-type taillights and an electrically adjustable spoiler. In addition, the new car will also be equipped with carbon ceramic brakes, and the suspension system will also be further strengthened.

In terms of power, the new car will use dual-motor four-wheel drive, and the maximum power will exceed the 646 horsepower of the RS e-tron GT. However, according to foreign media speculation, the maximum power of the new car should not exceed the 952 horsepower of the Taycan Turbo S, because the Audi e-tron GT series is positioned lower than the Porsche Taycan within the Volkswagen Group. In terms of battery, the new car has a battery capacity of 98.6kWh and supports super fast charging.

The Audi S3 has received a major upgrade. The maximum power of the 2024 model has been increased to 329 horsepower, and the torque divider system from the new Audi RS3 has been added.

The facelift covers four-door sedan and five-door hatchback versions, and the appearance has also been adjusted to be consistent with the recently facelifted A3 series.

These upgrades are designed to improve the S3’s performance and handling, allowing it to compete with rivals such as the BMW M135i and Mercedes-Benz AMG A35. The new S3 continues to be powered by the Volkswagen Group’s EA888 turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, with peak power increased by 25bhp and peak torque increased from 400Nm to 420Nm.

In addition, the seven-speed automatic transmission now features a tighter-compression clutch pressure plate that is capable of handling higher torque loads from a standstill and is said to cut shift times in half under full load. All these improvements shorten the new car’s 0-62 mph acceleration time to 4.7 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than before, while the top speed remains unchanged at 250km/h.

In order to improve fuel economy and power response, engineers also re-tuned the new car’s turbine. At part-throttle opening, the turbo is preloaded to a constant rpm, reducing power lag.

The major mechanical change, however, is the addition of the torque splitter from the RS3, a system that allows for fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels.

Audi has also added a new Dynamic Plus driving mode (Dynamic Plus), which uses the torque divider to send as much power to the rear axle as possible and prioritizes sending power to the outside rear wheels when cornering to help the driver. Achieve slight oversteer.

In addition to this, the new S3 also features larger brake discs, optimized progressive steering and suspension arms with stiffer bushings to provide greater negative camber for improved cornering performance.

Audi S sports suspension will continue to be standard on the new S3, which lowers the body by 15mm compared to the regular A3 model. 18-inch wheels are standard, with two new 19-inch wheels available, and grippier Falken sports tires are optional.

The new S3 only gets minor exterior tweaks, including a revised front grille, new front air intakes, and a revised front spoiler. The headlights have also been redesigned and feature 24-pixel daytime running lights, with four optional lighting “signatures” available. The rear part of the car adopts a new rear bumper design exclusive to the S series, and is equipped with four exhaust pipes, and an optional titanium alloy exhaust muffler is available.

Inside, the new S3 features a new gear lever design, unique air-conditioning vents, standard ambient lighting, and front doors with backlit laser-cut fabric panels.

The new Audi S3 will soon be available for order overseas. The specific price has not yet been announced, but the starting price in the German market is expected to be 55,600 euros (Note: currently about 436,000 RMB). Compared with the starting price of the current model, promoted.

Competition in the compact SUV market is becoming increasingly fierce, and Audi will certainly not miss this big piece of cake. Since its arrival on the European market in 2011, the Audi Q3 has been a popular model in the segment. Following the first-generation model’s 2019 refresh, the all-new third-generation Q3 will be officially unveiled later this year.

Recently, a set of spy photos of the new Audi Q3 were exposed. Although the body is covered with a lot of camouflage, it can still be seen from the details that the new car adopts Audi’s latest design, and the body size is also expected to increase further.

It can be seen that the new Q3 borrows many design elements from the e-tron Q6. Both cars use Audi’s latest slim daytime running lights, which are composed of multiple LED modules that can display different patterns and information. This also means that the new Q3 will adopt a split headlight design, which is already used on many of Audi’s SUV models.

It is noticed that the side design of the body does not have many highlights. The new Q3 doesn’t get electronic exterior mirrors like the RS6 e-tron, and the door handles have a traditional pull-type design instead of the more modern recessed design used on the BMW X1. Unlike the spy photos exposed in September last year, the model exposed this time has rear taillights. Judging from the pictures, Audi does not equip its smallest SUV with through-type taillights like other models.

Spy photos also hint that the wheelbase of the new-generation Q3 will be increased, which will bring more room for seating and storage.

It’s unclear whether there is a charging port on the front fender of the test car. In previously exposed spy photos, the Q3 prototype is equipped with a charging port, indicating that it is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model. The model exposed this time may be equipped with a simpler mild hybrid system. The new Q3 may be one of Audi’s last models to feature an internal combustion engine, with powertrains expected to include gasoline, diesel and plug-in hybrids, depending on market demand.

It is worth mentioning that the Audi Q3 shares a platform architecture with the Volkswagen Tiguan (European version only). The European version of the Tayron is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and its engines include 1.5L and 2.0L gasoline engines, 2.0L diesel engines, and two plug-in hybrid systems with a maximum power of 268 horsepower. The Q3’s powertrains are expected to be similar, with a high-performance S3 model also available and what will likely be the last RS Q3 model powered by a 2.5L turbocharged five-cylinder engine.

The new Audi Q3 is expected to be released in the third or fourth quarter of 2024, which is still some time before it is officially launched.

According to Late Auto, SAIC Volkswagen is participating in the research and development of new Audi brand cars with the support of SAIC Group and will develop a number of new products with different powertrains.

According to reports, among the new car projects that SAIC Volkswagen is promoting, at least six projects have local R&D as the main force. At the same time, the SAIC-Volkswagen R&D Center has scaled back some new car projects, and the projects that are not being promoted or suspended are mainly the introduction of new models. SAIC Volkswagen’s two upcoming fuel vehicles, Tiguan L and Passat, will be partially equipped with the smart driving system provided by DJI Automotive.

It is noticed that Volkswagen issued an official statement in July last year: the Volkswagen brand and Xpeng Motors reached a technical cooperation framework agreement, and Audi signed a memorandum of understanding with SAIC to deepen existing cooperation. Both cooperation contents mentioned that ” Jointly develop electric intelligent connected vehicles exclusively for the Chinese market.” Audi and SAIC will combine their respective advantages to accelerate the development of SAIC Audi’s new electric models to meet the needs of Chinese users for high-end electric intelligent connected vehicles.

At the Volkswagen Group’s 2024 annual media communication meeting this month, CEO Oliver Blume further revealed that models jointly developed by Audi and SAIC will be launched in 2026.

Audi is accelerating the development of a new entry-level electric car, which will be positioned on a par with the A3 and Q3. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner said it will be A “wonderful, unique, stand-alone vehicle.”

It is reported that this compact electric vehicle is planned to be launched in 2027, and the research and development cycle will be shortened to about three years in order to compete with rapidly rising Chinese competitors. With the end of production of Audi’s A1 and Q2 models, the A3 hatchback and Q3 will become the smallest models in Audi’s gasoline-powered range. It is worth mentioning that the A3 has just completed its facelift and the new Q3 will be launched soon.

Dorner refused to reveal too many details about the new car, saying only that the car would be positioned lower than the Audi Q4 e-tron, and said, “This will be a wonderful, unique, independent model concept that will be launched in Ingolstadt.” A special production worthy of all our expectations.”

Given the popularity of SUV models, the entry-level electric car is likely to adopt a high-riding crossover design rather than a traditional hatchback shape, forming a sister model to the gas-powered Q3.

It is noticed that at last year’s Munich Auto Show, Audi’s then technical director Oliver Hoffman hinted that the new model will use the Volkswagen Group’s MEB electric vehicle platform (this platform is also used for the Q4 e-tron), rather than the newer model just launched by Audi. High-end PPE platform, PPE platform is mainly used in large vehicles, such as the new Audi Q6 e-tron SUV. Dorner did not rule out the possibility of using the MEB platform, but insisted that “no final decision has been made on which platform to use.”

Dorner also made it clear that there will be no electric successor to the A1: “It won’t be a car that’s only four meters long. I won’t be that stubborn. We won’t have a direct electric successor to the A1 or Q2.”

Although Dorner did not disclose the possible names of the new cars, Audi recently adjusted its model numbering strategy, using even numbers for electric vehicles and odd numbers for fuel vehicles. This hints that Audi’s future entry-level electric cars may be called the A2 e-tron or Q2 e-tron, although they will have no connection to previous models with the same name.
