The French website iPhoneSoft says that Apple will simply release the “Apple Watch X” instead of continuing with the Apple Watch Series 9. This is similar to how the iPhone 8 skipped the iPhone 9 and released the iPhone X.

The iPhoneSoft website says that this information has been leaked from within Lixon Precision in Vietnam, and the report also states that this information has come from someone working on the Apple Watch project. There is no way to tell if this information is true or not.

]]> A rumour based on unreliable supply chain information says that Apple will produce the “Apple Watch X” in 2024, a radical change like the iPhone X. The initial Apple Watch was announced in September 2014, although it didn’t ship until April 2015. So it’s safe to say that 2024 will mark its tenth anniversary, and a new rumour claims that Apple will mark the occasion with a major redesign.

However, even among the unreliable reports, there are some discrepancies, as according to the French website iPhoneSoft, there will not be an Apple Watch Series 9 next, but an “Apple Watch X”.

This would coincide with Apple skipping the ‘iPhone 9’ and launching the iPhone 8 and iPhone X at the same time. However, this would mean that Apple would release the ‘Apple Watch X’ in 2023, even before the tenth anniversary of the announcement.

Nonetheless, iPhoneSoft claims that the source was relayed from within Lixon Precision Vietnam from someone working on the project within Apple.

The rumour doesn’t include any indication of what changes Apple might introduce into the new watch, nor is there any real confirmation that any changes will be made. However, the source and iPhoneSoft conclude that it is unlikely that Apple is only planning to make simple changes to the naming scheme.

There’s also the fact that Apple has already introduced a pretty big redesign in the form of the 2022 Apple Watch Ultra.
