According to the Bluetooth SIG product database page, Apple has submitted a list called “WatchOS Profile Subsystem 2023”, indicating that it is preparing for the launch of the Apple Watch in September.

The list does not disclose any information, Note: Apple’s current Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Ultra all support Bluetooth 5.3.

In a recent Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the S9 will offer the first “significant speed improvements” since the Series 6.

Apple has 1GB of RAM in the Apple Watch Series 4 and 1.5GB of RAM in the Series 6 through Series 8. The A15 uses the same LPDDR 4x specification memory as the A13, and it is currently unclear whether Apple will increase the memory.

The biggest change from the A13 upgrade to the A15 lies in the production process. The A15 is manufactured using TSMC’s second-generation 5nm process – N5P.

Based on the performance difference between A13 (7nm) and A15 (5nm), the media speculates that the performance of the S9 chip can be increased by 40-50%, and the power consumption can be reduced by 30%.

Apple launched two years ago Apple Watch Series 7 watches added fast charging capabilities, now Apple plans to implement a new requirement for third-party accessory manufacturers later this year to dramatically expand the availability of fast charging on the Apple Watch.

Under Apple’s MFi Accessory Program, Apple Watch accessory manufacturers must use official charging modules provided by Apple itself. Currently, Apple gives these companies two options: an older charging module, which is slower, or a newer charging module, which is capable of fast charging. According to third-party accessory companies that spoke with AppleInsider’s website, Apple will stop offering the older charging module option later this year. The deadline for companies to submit plans to use the slower charging modules is set for August 31, and Apple will officially stop taking orders for the older modules on September 30th.

This change is notable for a couple of different reasons. First, it will significantly increase the number of third-party accessories that can take advantage of the Apple Watch’s fast charging capabilities. Additionally, a potential downside to this is that fast-charging modules cost more for MFi accessory manufacturers. As these companies are required to use fast-charging hardware, accessory manufacturers may have to raise their prices.

The following Apple Watch models support fast charging:

Apple Watch Series 7

Apple Watch Series 8

Apple Watch Ultra

Apple says that with fast charging, the Apple Watch battery can be charged from 0 percent to 80 percent in about 45 minutes. There are only a few accessories on the market that support fast charging on the Apple Watch.

It is noted that Apple’s own MagSafe Duo accessory does not support Apple Watch fast charging, and it’s unclear whether Apple has a new version in development.

Apple today announced results for its first fiscal quarter of 2023, which covers October, November and December of 2022. Despite a 5 percent decline in revenue compared to the same period last year, the company said a record number of people bought an Apple Watch for the first time in the first quarter of 2023.

Nearly two-thirds of customers who bought an Apple Watch in the last quarter were first-time buyers, Apple CEO Tim Cook said on a conference call with investors. Apple introduced three new Apple Watch models last year: the Apple Watch Series 8, the Apple Watch Ultra, and the more affordable second-generation Apple Watch SE.

Despite that, Apple’s sales in the wearables, home and accessories categories fell 8 percent year-over-year in the fiscal first quarter. The company said the numbers were caused by a challenging macro environment and the category includes products like the Apple Watch, AirPods and HomePod.

But there was some other good news for Apple, which also announced during an investor call that it had reached the milestone of 2 billion active devices, as well as record revenue from the services category.

Apple’s fiscal first-quarter revenue fell 5 percent year-over-year, Apple’s biggest quarterly revenue decline since 2016.

After launching titanium and stainless steel Apple Watch straps, Nomad has launched its latest product, an aluminum strap, to match Apple’s Apple Watch wearable.

Introduced this week at CES 2023, the new Nomad aluminum Apple Watch bands come in a matte finish in silver or space gray to match Apple’s aluminum Apple Watch models.

However, there is no midnight version of the strap, which is Apple’s replacement for space gray on the current Apple Watch Series 8. Midnight “has a blue tint,” while space gray is just a dark gray tint.

In the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple also dropped the silver color in favor of Starlight, but the silver color returns in the Apple Watch Series 8. Nomad’s new band matches the silver Apple Watch Series 8 perfectly.

The space gray version of the Nomad aluminum strap has an extra-strong DLC coating to protect against scratches. Both versions have magnetic easy-pull closures and buttons on the side to open.

The Nomad aluminum strap is only available in 45mm / 49mm versions, and its design is suitable for Apple Watch Ultra, Series 8, Series 7, Series 6, SE, and all previous large-size versions of Apple Watch.

The Nomad Aluminum Apple Watch Band is available now for $199. The stainless steel version is priced at $199 (about 1,375 CNY), while the titanium alloy model has been postponed to order in April, priced at $299 (about 2,066 CNY).

If you are considering buying an Apple Watch, you should know some information about GPS. Apple has confirmed that the Apple Watch Ultra, Apple Watch Series 8, and Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) will not utilize the GPS signal on the iPhone even if the iPhone is nearby. All three Apple Watch models have built-in GPS, while older models still use the iPhone’s GPS model.

Apple officials recently wrote in the official update log:

Apple Watch Ultra, Apple Watch Series 8, and Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) use the built-in Apple Watch GPS even when your iPhone is nearby. to extend battery life, older Apple Watch models use the GPS on your iPhone when it’s available.

While older Apple Watch models extended battery life by using the GPS on the iPhone, Apple has more confidence in the battery life of the three new Apple Watches mentioned above. Apple also introduced a low-power mode in watchOS 9, which can extend battery life with GPS and heart rate data disabled.

Apple has acknowledged that some Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra users may be experiencing microphone issues, and this includes trying to use Siri, making calls and more. Users have reported issues with their Apple Watch microphone becoming persistently unresponsive after a period of time, which has caused apps that rely on the microphone to bug out and stop working altogether.

In a new memo obtained by MacRumors, Apple into it is aware of this bug affecting users, specifically saying that customers may face problems with Siri not being able to hear them, record voice memos and make phone calls, among other things. The “measurement pause” message may also appear in the Noise app.

Apple said that restarting the Apple Watch may temporarily resolve the issue and implied that the problem was not hardware related. Apple noted in the memo that customers should keep updated to the latest version of watchOS, suggesting that a fix may be released soon.

As the new Apple Watch goes on sale, the first users to get their hands on one have been complaining about problems on the web. For example, the microphone on the Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra may inexplicably lose response after a period of time, causing microphone-dependent apps to pop up with error messages and stop working.

(Image from: MacRumors forum users)

Information aggregated from Apple’s official support community and MacRumors forums indicates that this bug not only causes the Noise app to pop up with such an error notification, but also affects the normal operation of Siri, dictation, hand-washing detection, and other system features.

Specifically, the Noise app will not detect volume levels when the Apple Watch is in water lock, or when the microphone/speaker is in use.

To make matters worse, user @2259 says he’s tried restarting his Apple Watch and updating the system software — both Watch OS for the watch and iOS 16.0.1 for the iPhone — and the problem still returns after After a while, the problem returned.

So it seems more likely that the problem is related to a software bug. But there are a number of users who have experienced the problem on both watches and wonder if it’s a very coincidental hardware defect.

Thankfully, Apple is aware of the problem and is expected to release a fix soon. Also in terms of after-sales return policy, the company is quite secure.

With the new Apple Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Series 8 models now arriving to customers, Apple is bringing a lot of smart new features to the wrist. But there are more new features on the way.

Before the end of the year, Apple is offering Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra users a number of additional features, some of which are watchOS 9 features, meaning they’ll even work on older Apple Watch models.

Track detection
Apple will soon launch a new track running experience that automatically detects when users arrive at a track and combines Apple Maps data with GPS to provide a more accurate route map (including the option to select a track) as well as a more accurate pace and distance metrics. Apple said track detection will be available in the U.S. later this year through a software update for the Apple Watch Series 4 and higher models.

Race Routes
Race Routes is a new workout feature designed for runners to race against best or last times on any frequently completed route. The feature will also provide in-session pacing guidance to keep users’ progress competitive. Apple says Race Routes will be available later this year in Apple Watch Series 4 and later.

International Roaming
For cellular Apple Watch models, Apple will soon introduce support for international roaming. Apple said it has reached agreements with 30 carrier partners to support the feature, including Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile in the U.S., Three and O2 in the U.K., and international carriers including China Mobile, Movistar and SoftBank. Apple said the Apple Watch Series 5 and higher Apple said the Apple Watch Series 5 and later cellular models will offer international roaming by the end of this year.

Family Settings – Home Home app support
Family Settings will support the Home app, which will allow children to be invited as members to control HomePod speakers and smart home accessories. Thanks to additional support, kids will also be able to use Home Key and Hotel Key in Apple Wallet.

This feature is dependent on Apple’s new Home architecture, a separate update in the Home app, and will be available in a software update later this year. Please note that sharing control of the home and receiving home notifications requires a Home Hub, and only Apple TV and HomePod are supported as Home Hubs in iOS 16.

Oceanic+ Oceanic app (Apple Watch Ultra)
Developed by Apple in conjunction with third-party company Huish Outdoors, Oceanic+ is a built-in dive computer designed specifically for Apple Watch Ultra devices. Available as a free app on the App Store, Oceanic+ will include depth tracking (including depth alerts), GPS tracking, logbooks (up to 12 dives), snorkeling and more.

For more advanced dive options, such as no decompression limits, users will need to purchase an Oceanic+ subscription plan ($4.99/day, $9.99/month or $79/year). oceanic+ will be available on the App Store later this fall.

Low Power Mode (Apple Watch Ultra)
Apple Watch Ultra has the longest battery life of any Apple Watch, with up to 36 hours during normal use. However, Apple is developing a new low-power setting that can extend battery life to up to 60 hours on a single charge.

When the Apple Watch Series 8 and the second-generation Apple Watch SE were unveiled, Apple’s website showed that both models could only support Bluetooth 5.0 protocol, but Apple now says they actually support the newer Bluetooth 5.3 standard.

Apple has officially confirmed that both models support Bluetooth 5.3, at least in the United States. That means other markets may only support up to Bluetooth 5.0.

According to Apple, all iPhone 14 series models, the second generation AirPods Pro and Apple Watch Ultra support Bluetooth 5.3.

Bluetooth 5.3 is described as having “a number of enhancements that improve the reliability, range and user experience of many Bluetooth products,” such as the LE Audio audio specification, but there is no evidence that Apple supports LE Audio audio in its latest products.

The S8 chip in the Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Ultra and second-generation Apple Watch SE has the same CPU as the S6 and S7 chips, according to the identifier. the CPU inside Apple’s S8 SiP is the same as the CPU in the S6 and S7 chips that debuted in the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch Series 7. The CPUs in the S6 and S7 chips that debuted in the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch Series 7 carry the same T8301 identifier, which explains why Apple has only compared its S-series chips to the S5 chip or earlier in recent years.

This also means that Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch Series 7, Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Ultra and the second-generation Apple Watch SE all use the exact same CPU. notably, Apple may still have iterated on other parts of the SiP to accommodate new components, such as the Apple Watch Series 8’s new accelerometer and gyroscope.

The S6, S7 and S8 chips all feature 32GB of storage and dual-core CPUs. when Apple debuted the S6 in Apple Watch Series 6, the last time it made performance claims for its latest smartwatch line, it said the chip allowed apps to launch up to 20 percent faster.

The S6, S7 and S8 are based on Apple’s A13 Bionic chip for the iPhone 11 series, manufactured using TSMC’s 7nm process. Apple began its transition to TSMC’s 5nm process with the A14 Bionic chip, and the iPhone 14 Pro’s A16 Bionic chip was the first Apple chip to be made on a 4nm process.

One explanation for Apple not advancing CPU technology for its S-series chips is that the advances made using the cores in the A14 chip and TSMC’s 5nm or 4nm process will primarily yield performance improvements that are no longer important for Apple Watch usage. On the other hand, waiting for TSMC’s 3nm process, which will enter mass production by the end of this year, could yield more meaningful efficiency improvements – a more important area when it comes to the Apple Watch, as it could help extend battery life.
