Apple today pushed the iOS 16.4 / iPadOS 16.4 RC preview and public beta update (internal version number: 20E246) to iPhone users, with the RC preview candidate marking the final version of the software that will be available to the public in the near future.

It is learned from Apple’s official log notes that the iOS 16.4 update will include Voice Isolation for cellular phones.

Apple says Voice Isolation prioritizes your voice and blocks out ambient noise around you, so calls are clearer and you can better hear the person you’re talking to.

According to 9to5 Mac and MacRumors reports, voice highlighting has previously been available for VoIP calls using FaceTime, WhatsApp, and other applications on devices running iOS 15 or macOS Monterey or later, designed to significantly improve call time by reducing background noise. microphone quality. Up to now, Apple has supported voice calls for mobile phones.

In a FaceTime call, this feature can be enabled by activating Control Center, tapping the “Microphone Mode” option, and selecting the “Voice Prominence” option, so it can be activated for voice calls in a similar way.

If the user has iOS 16.4 installed on their iPhone, here’s how to enable voice protrusion for cellular calls.

Start a call with someone

During the call, open Control Center on the iPhone

Tap Microphone mode

Select the Voice Surge option from the list

When this mode is enabled, iPhone will block external sounds to focus on your voice. If you want to disable this mode, just do the same steps again and select the standard option from the list.

It’s important to note that Wide Spectrum mode is not available for cellular phones, at least for now. In this mode, the iPhone does the opposite, enhancing the capture of all sounds around you during a call. iPad and Mac users can also use both modes when using FaceTime.

Other features in iOS 16.4 include new emoji, push notifications for Web apps, bug fixes for HomeKit, iPhone 14 series crash detection optimizations and more.
