Apple today pushed the macOS 13.3 Developer Preview Beta 3 update (internal version number: 22E5236f) to Mac computer users, seven days after the last release.

Apple macOS

macOS Ventura 13.3 features the same new emoji as iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4, including pink hearts, light blue hearts, left and right hands, moose, blackbird, goose, wings, jellyfish, pea pods, fingers and more.

The update adds the new HomeKit architecture that was originally removed from updates like iOS 16.2, and the revised version will have fewer buggy bugs that affect HomeKit settings.

macOS Ventura 13.3 will go through multiple rounds of Beta testing, and Apple plans to release it publicly this spring.

Apple today pushed out a second Rapid Security Response (RSR) update for iOS 16.4 / macOS 13.3, which is the fourth RSR update since Apple introduced the Rapid Security Response update mechanism.

Apple intends to use Rapid Security Response updates in the future to quickly address security vulnerabilities that have been identified and are being actively exploited. This way Apple can not need to wait for regular updates and then push them to users, but can quickly fix for certain vulnerabilities.

This update appears in the same location as the normal update and can be found in the Settings app. This update appears as iOS Security Response 16.4 (b) and macOS Security Response 13.3 (b).

Users who trigger the Security Response update can revert to a previous iOS or macOS version during this test. Apple tested this feature in a previous Beta release.

Apple has launched the first Beta update of macOS Ventura 13.3 (internal version number: 22E5219e), and according to several media reports and user feedback, the Beta version has fixed the “Background Items Added ” issue.

The issue earlier this month: macOS would alert users to notifications of various background running apps every time they started their Mac, even though they had disabled the relevant processes.

After disabling the notification preview feature via the System Settings -> Notifications -> Show Preview path, users continue to receive a large number of “Login Items” notifications after booting their Mac.

A direct reinstall of macOS Ventura 13.2 does not have this problem. However, users who have upgraded from macOS Ventura 13.1 will still have this problem. Apple has not officially mentioned this in the changelog, but according to a report by Ghack, several users have reported that macOS Ventura 13.3 Beta has fixed this bug.

Apple has also fixed an issue in Storekit that caused iOS apps on the Mac to fail when restoring app content and purchasing in-app purchases.

macOS Ventura 13.3 Beta comes with Apple Safari 16.4 Beta, which adds dark mode support for plain text files. The browser can now be used to view AVIF images, a feature that also works with macOS Monterey and macOS Big Sur.
