This statement differs from the previous Bloomberg revelation, which stated that Apple developed a 40-core chip for the upcoming Mac Pro.

"The redesigned Mac Pro, codenamed Jade 2C-Die and Jade 4C-Die, is planned to offer 20 or 40 CPU cores, consisting of 16 or 32 high-performance cores and 4 or 8 high-efficiency cores. These chips will also include 64-core or 128-core GPUs. the number of computing cores exceeds the 28 cores offered by today's Intel Mac Pro chips, and the higher-end GPUs will replace those now made by AMD."

However, whether it’s 40 or 48 cores, the M2 Extreme is likely to be designed for Apple’s ultra-performance Mac Pro, a long-awaited machine that is expected to be released next year, so we’ll see what happens.
