According to the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO) publicized list, Apple today obtained a technology patent, the name of the “touch input device cover layer detection”, which simply means that the detection of the iPhone or iPad whether there is a film, and then through the action compensation to improve the interaction.

Apple in the patent a complete overview of the method and system for detecting whether the device is coated with a film, and can be on the iPhone, iPad and other digital devices, according to whether there is a film to dynamically adjust.

Note: Many consumers choose to apply a film to their iPhone, iPad devices for protection and other factors, which can lead to subtle distortions in the image produced by the screen, and can alter the light on the display in small but perceptible ways.

Apple in the patent outlines the whole optical system to detect whether the screen is laminated, and includes a set of processing units, connectors, sensors, including the system, and can communicate with the screen to adjust the screen display effect.

According to a list published today by the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has been granted a patent for the haptic output of the iPhone. According to a scheme shown in the patent sketch, the iPhone power button and volume button are changed to solid-state buttons.

Citing the patent description, the touch input component can be configured to measure the force of user input; the control circuit can control the strength of the tactile output, and various related functions, based on the input force.

The control circuitry can collect information about the external electronic device and can control the input and output devices based on information about the external electronic device.

Apple further noted that these non-mechanical buttons can use solid-state semiconductor materials such as capacitive touch sensor electrodes and are not dependent on electrical switches, so they can be operated without moving the button components.

According to a list recently published by the United States Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO), Apple has been granted a patent for a technology involving Touch ID fingerprint recognition. In the patent, Apple is exploring off-screen Touch ID in addition to trying to introduce physical fingerprint recognition on the top and side of the iPhone.

After Apple’s iPhone transitioned from the Home button to a full screen, biometric authentication migrated from Touch ID fingerprint recognition to Face ID facial recognition, and the latest patent hints that Apple will bring back Touch ID in the future.

The latest patent suggests that Apple will bring back Touch ID in the future, and in addition to the off-screen Touch ID solution, the future iPhone may also choose to introduce a mechanical slider button with a fingerprint scanner on the right side and top of the device:

Apple states in the patent description that slider button #501 is shown as a mechanical slider button located on the side of the iPhone (#100) that can be pressed, moved up and/or moved down. Although not mentioned in the sketch, the patent description suggests that the button could be placed on top of the device.

According to the latest list published by the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO) this Thursday, Apple was granted a new patent for foldable device technology that could alleviate the problem of cracked folding screens.

Apple believes that the biggest concern for consumers buying foldable devices is that after a period of daily use, the screen folding will crack, causing consumers to be discouraged from foldable devices.

Apple has outlined in a patent a new protective layer structure for foldable screens that enhance the durability of the screen. The patent specifically mentions screen modules and protective layer structures that are deployed on bendable, flexible, compliant, foldable screen modules and screen panels.

Apple notes that typically, glass fractures begin with the presence of microcracks. According to the embodiment, hard coating layer #104 can fill pre-existing micro-cracks and mitigate screen cracking.
