The French regulator ANFR recently issued a press release, saying Apple will release on October 24th the iOS 17.1 stable version, which will fix the iPhone 12 radiation problem.

“Apple has committed to deploying the update in France, and the fix will be pushed to all users by October 24”, the site writes.

Apple issued a press release about the upcoming release of the iOS 17.1 system update for iPhone 12 users in France, which reduces the power of energy transfer when the device has been left off the body and placed on a static surface, thus complying with the relevant test requirements of France’s National Frequency Authority (ANFR).

Apple says that the iPhone 12 will no longer crank up the allowed transmission power when it detects that the phone is off-body, such as when it’s sitting on a tabletop, after the update. As a result, this change in antenna transmission power may result in a slight decrease in cellular network performance in certain usage scenarios when the phone is off the body in areas with weak cellular network signal coverage. Most users are not expected to feel any impact.

iOS 17.1 is currently in its 3rd Beta update, which tweaks the functionality of the Action button to prevent certain actions from being triggered when the iPhone is in a pocket or bag.

The Camera, Flashlight, Voice Memo, Focus, and Magnifier functions will no longer be activated when the Action button is pressed by mistake if the iPhone is in a pocket.

In addition, iOS 17.1 fixes a bug that affected iPhone battery life when paired with an Apple Watch running watchOS 10.1.

iOS 17.1 adds the option to favourite songs, albums, playlists, artists, and more, and to add favourites to the library and use them to make suggestions. Favourites can be bookmarked from the lock screen using the Now Playing widget, and users will now see song suggestions when launching a playlist.

Additionally, AirDrop transfers can be done over the internet so there’s no need to be in close proximity, and the Apple Watch running watchOS 10.1 can now use NameDrop with an iPhone running iOS 17.1.

Other new features include a flashlight indicator on the non-iPhone 15 Pro model’s Spirit Island and a wallet feature that lets Brits connect to their bank to check balances and transactions.

After indicating that it will release a software update for iPhone 12 phone users in France to address radiation concerns raised by regulators in that country, Belgium has asked Apple to follow up on the measure across the European Union.

Belgium’s Secretary of State for Digitalization, Mathieu Michel, said today that Apple has been asked to update its iPhone 12 software in EU countries, according to Interface News. However, he also said that according to a preliminary review by Belgian regulators, the phone does not pose a danger to users and there is no need for a recall.

Citing a previous report by Reuters, French Deputy Minister for the Digital Economy Ben Barrow said on Tuesday that Apple must stop selling its iPhone 12 handset in France because the phone’s radiation levels exceeded those allowed by law. Subsequently, Belgium, the Netherlands and other countries have also said that they will ask telecom regulators to investigate potential health risks associated with the iPhone 12.

In a statement earlier today, Apple said the company will release a software update for iPhone 12 users in France to accommodate the protocols used by French regulators, and that Apple expects the iPhone 12 to continue to be sold in the French market. The company added: “This is related to a specific testing protocol used by the French regulator, not a security issue.”

In response, French regulator ANFR said it would test the software update provided by Apple. If it has an effect on the electromagnetic waves emitted by the device, making the model (iPhone 12) compliant with the European standards applicable in France, ANFR will cancel the order to withdraw it from the market.

According to Reuters, Belgium’s deputy minister of digital economy said that he will ask the telecom regulator to analyze the relationship between Apple’s iPhone 12 and Apple’s iPhone 12 after France ordered it to stop selling it for violating radiation exposure limits, associated potential health risks.

“It is my responsibility to ensure the safety of all citizens,” Mathieu Michel, secretary of state for digital affairs, said in a statement emailed to Reuters on Thursday.

Apple said on Wednesday that the iPhone 12 has been certified by multiple international agencies and has been confirmed to comply with all applicable SAR regulations and standards around the world. We have provided French and French representatives with results from multiple Apple and independent third-party laboratories demonstrating its compliance. Regularity.

But France has suspended sales of the iPhone 12 until Apple resolves radiation issues detected in two tests this week, raising the possibility of further bans on the device in Europe.

German network regulator BNetzA has also said it may launch similar procedures and is in close contact with French authorities. The Dutch digital regulator also said it was investigating the matter and would demand an explanation from Apple.

Michel said: “I have quickly contacted IBPT-BIPT (regulatory agency) to request an analysis of the potential dangers of this product.” He also asked the regulatory agency to review all Apple smartphones and devices manufactured by Apple, and will also review them later. Products of other companies.

Researchers have conducted a large number of studies over the past two decades to assess the health risks posed by phones. According to the World Health Organization, it has not been determined that the use of phones will cause adverse health effects.

According to the latest export data, Apple became the first Indian company to surpass the $1 billion (currently around 6.78 billion CNY, Rs 81 billion) smartphone export milestone in a single month in December last year, and the company just overtook Samsung as India’s largest smartphone exporter in November last year.

Meanwhile, India’s total electronics exports reached US$16.69 billion in December, up 51.56% from US$10.99 billion in the same month last year.

According to the report, the rise in the value of Apple’s exports in India has coincided with the growth in exports of made-in-India electronics, with Indian factories growing by more than 51 percent year-on-year in the last three quarters of 2022.

Apple currently has three major foundries in India – Foxconn, PEGATRON and Wistron – that currently manufacture devices such as the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus in India. In addition, Apple has a number of smaller OEMs that also export iPhones from India.

Foxconn and PEGATRON’s Indian factories are located in Tamil Nadu, while Wistron has a branch in Karnataka. According to ET News, these companies will contribute to India’s goal of $9 billion in phone exports by 2023.
