]]> After the launch of iOS 16.1.2 on November 30, Apple closed the verification channel for iOS 16.1.1 and iOS 16.1, the two previously available versions of iOS, meaning it is not possible to downgrade to these versions of iOS after upgrading to iOS 16.1.2.

Apple usually closes the verification channel for older versions of the system when a new version comes out to encourage users to keep the operating system up to date.

iOS 16.1 was a major update that added support for iCloud Photo Library and Live Activity, while iOS 16.1.1 was a bug fix update.

iOS 16.1.2 will soon be replaced by iOS 16.2, a big update that is in beta and should be available in the full release next week. iOS 16.2 will introduce advanced data protection for iCloud, the Infinity Notes app, Apple Music Sing karaoke functionality, and other new features.
