While AM5 adoption is still slow, it looks like AMD may be preparing chips without an X in its suffix, like the Ryzen 7700 CPUs, to bring back some market attention. For those who follow the tech, the tweet says, “7700 8 65”. This unusual tweet from 188 refers to AMD’s Ryzen 7700 SKU, which will feature a constrained TDP design and possibly a lower price point. Non-X CPUs have long been considered more budget-friendly options, although it remains to be seen how things play out.

Unfortunately, no further details were provided by No. 188 or anyone else. Compared to AMD’s latest Zen 4 CPUs, Intel’s new Raptor Lake processors cost $100 to $150 less (on average). The lower cost will allow more consumers to choose Intel over AMD when shopping for a brand-new CPU. In turn, if AMD designs a 65W TDP CPU to compete with Intel with better performance per watt and performance per value, it would be good for the company in the current market.

AMD, for example, has shown that it can deliver the same performance with limited power. A 65W CPU should perform within 90-95% of a Ryzen 7 7700X. It seems odd that AMD would lower the price of its latest line of processors, mainly the Ryzen 7 700X closing the gap between Intel’s Raptor Lake Core i7-13700K and i5-13600K processors in recent gaming benchmarks.

Regarding performance per watt, AMD is still the better performer. Still, with Intel primarily its only real competitor in the consumer market, AMD will likely do it with more entry-level CPUs rather than changing existing pricing for the rest of its lineup. It could also be due to pressure on margins and AMD’s rush to create a product that can perform as well as its previous classic processor models but also go head-to-head with Intel on pricing to steer consumers toward AMD.

AMD’s high-end Ryzen 9 7000 “Raphael” desktop CPUs based on the Zen 4 core architecture may have a standard TDP of 170W. According to information shared by well-known tipster Kopite7kimi, the Ryzen 9 SKU lineup runs at 170W TDP at regular voltage.

Previous information on the high-end Ryzen 7000 SKU models indicated a standard TDP of 170W, with a maximum Package Test Track (PPT) of 230W being maintained in the AM5 slot, while high-end Ryzen 9 7000 SKUs such as the Ryzen 9 7950X (16 cores expected) and Ryzen 9 7900X (12 cores expected) will use higher TDP designs.

The “regular voltage” revealed by the tipster is what we often refer to as the reference specification. Robert Hallock from AMD previously confirmed that the Ryzen 7000 SKUs can deliver up to 170W TDP and 230W PPT, but these CPUs can run at higher voltages to get the clock frequency closer to the 6.0GHz clock wall. Sources say that Ryzen 7000 Desktop SKUs are limited to a maximum clock frequency of 5.85GHz, and overclocking should likely be closer to 6.0GHz.

Based on previous information revealed by Gigabyte, the AMD AM5 CPU lineup is expected to offer at least the following 6 configurations.

● 45W (Max PPT 60W)

● 65W (Max PPT 88W)

● 95W (Max PPT 129W)

● 105W (Max PPT 142W)

● 125W (Max PPT 169W)

● 170W (Max PPT 230W)

The four accurate SKU models of AMD’s Ryzen 7000 processor have officially surfaced. Found by digging into AMD’s official website repository (which seems to have been hidden before the deadline), these four models are: Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X, Ryzen 5 7600X . Unfortunately, there is no sign of the Ryzen 7 7800X and Ryzen 3 7000 for now.

(via WCCFTech)

Despite previous news that the Dragon 7 7700X would not be in the debut lineup, AMD’s temporary change of heart cannot be ruled out until all the dust settles.

The 7950X is a 16-core, 32-thread flagship with a thermal design power consumption (TDP) of 170W and an all-core acceleration frequency of up to 5.5GHz. 25% more per watt than Zen3 and 35% more overall performance.

(From: VideoCardz)

In addition, the 7900X is designed for 12 cores and 24 threads, the 7800X/7700X for 8 cores and 16 threads, and the 7600X for 6 cores and 12 threads. Of course, these four or five is just the tip of the iceberg.

News that this time the sharp dragon 7000 in 45W, 65W, 95W, 105W, 125W and 170W and other rich models, the limit of power can be up to 230W, performance release space is very large.

From the recent situation, it seems that the release in August and the listing before September 15 is getting more and more reliable ……

AMD has recently posted a new open source Linux driver code that enables Audio Co-Processing (ACP) on the upcoming Ryzen 7000 “Raphael” desktop CPUs. While the ACP support is good news, the bad news is that it will have a later go-live date.

AMD Ryzen 7000 “Raphael” desktop CPUs will be released soon. This desktop Zen 4 processor has increased support for Linux. This new ACP audio driver code is necessary for users who rely on ACP audio.

In the recent 5 patch releases, it was indicated in the header file and other patches that the AMD SoC ACP Linux driver would be integrated for the Raphael “RPL” platform. The merge window for Linux 5.20 opened a week ago, so it is unclear if the code will be integrated. If this integration is missed, it will be done in Linux 6.0 later this year.

During the 2022 Financial Analyst Day event earlier this month, many seemed to have missed a key piece of information revealed by Saeid Moshkelani, AMD’s senior vice president and general manager of clients, that the company intends to bring the Zen 4 Riptide 7000 series of desktop processors with 3D V-Cache stacked cache later this year. For reference, we’ve already been impressed by the Rex R7-5800X3D, one of the uniquely designed gaming processors currently on the market.

In recent times, many rumors have suggested that AMD Zen 4 V-Cache processors would not be released until 2023, but that does not seem to be the case.

In other words, the AM5 platform is likely to see a standard / 3D V-Cache version of the Raptor 7000 CPU SKU based on the Zen 4 core architecture at the same time, and the latter is expected to be the secret weapon against Intel’s 13th generation Core (Raptor Lake).

With the Raidon R7-5800X3D, AMD has proven that it can outperform Intel’s 12th generation Core (Alder Lake) flagship gaming processors in terms of price/performance with its 3D V-Cache cache stacking technology.

Even though Zen 4’s IPC performance gains are limited, the addition of higher clock frequencies and 3D V-Cache stacking cache is expected to put AMD at the forefront of gaming performance.

Intel Raptor Lake does have increased internal cache, but AMD’s deployment of 3D V-Cache is still much more dramatic, and we’re looking forward to an interesting battle between the two manufacturers in the consumer CPU space.

AMD also confirmed some key details about the Zen 4 CPUs, starting with a 5nm process node for the Zen 4 Riptide 7000 series desktop processors, supported by an 8-10% increase in IPC performance (compared to Zen 3) and over 15% increase in single-threaded performance.

In terms of memory bandwidth, the full shift from DDR4 to DDR5 memory controllers allows for a 125% increase in bandwidth per Zen 4 core. There are also significant performance-per-watt and frequency improvements, AI and AVX-512 instruction set extensions, and more.

Finally, it was revealed earlier that AMD’s Raptor 7000 series desktop processors (and accompanying AM5 chipset motherboards) will go on sale on September 15. Intel Raptor Lake is expected to arrive in October this year, and then Zen 4 3D V-Cache later in November-December.
