According to foreign technology media Tech News Space, AMD postponed the release of AGESA 1.0.0.7 update. The main reason for the delay in the update is that AMD needs more time to fix compatibility issues related to memory overclocking.

It was previously reported that in response to the Ryzen 7000X3D CPU burnout event, AMD announced earlier this month that it will launch an AGESA 1.0.0.7 BIOS motherboard firmware update to prevent the AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU from being burnt due to voltage problems.

The new firmware not only limits the SOC voltage to 1.3V, but also modifies the two mechanisms, PROCHOT Control and PROCHOT Deassertion Ramp Time, which are related to thermal limiting.

At present, most of AMD’s partner manufacturers have been updated based on AGESA 1.0.0.6, and relevant restrictions have been implemented in the BIOS firmware.

ASUS has released a beta BIOS update based on the AGESA 1.0.0.7 update. But the AGESA 1.0.0.7 update has many bugs and bugs, especially in the overclocking compatibility of memory modules.

AMD has acknowledged these compatibility issues and is working with partners to roll out the build 1.0.9.0 update, but there is no guarantee that all bugs will be fixed at this time.

According to whistleblower chi11eddog, the current AGESA 1.0.0.7 BIOS version only supports 24GB and 48GB memory sticks up to DDR5-4400.

In the previously released AGESA 1.0.0.6 BIOS firmware, DDR5-6000 and DDR5-6400 memory are supported. In the new version of AGESA 1.0.0.7, the AMD EXPO RAM overclocking profile does not work properly and does not allow the use of faster RAM.

AMD Ryzen 7000X3D series processors have recently been exposed to the risk of being burned due to voltage problems. Many motherboard manufacturers have launched BIOS updates to solve this problem.

In this regard, AMD officials issued a statement to foreign media Anandtech yesterday. The company is aware of the problem and is investigating. At the same time, AMD is asking motherboard and ODM suppliers to ensure that the device firmware/BIOS is within the correct voltage tolerance range. It runs the Ryzen 7000X3D processor inside. The statement also calls on affected users to contact AMD after-sales support.

We have noticed a few reports online that excessive voltage during overclocking can damage motherboard sockets and pins. We are actively investigating the situation and working with our ODM partners to ensure that voltage applied to the Ryzen 7000X3D CPU via the motherboard BIOS settings are within product specifications. Users of any CPUs that may be affected by this issue should contact AMD Customer Support.

Several motherboard partners had rolled out BIOS updates before AMD’s announcement, and some even removed older versions of the BIOS from their websites. The new firmware enforces strict limits on CPU core voltage and prevents voltage-assisted overclocking. Some companies, such as MSI, have even introduced new auto-overclocking modes that enhance PBO-based performance tuning without exceeding the voltage limit set by AMD.
