If you listen to podcasts on Amazon Music, you may soon be getting help from artificial intelligence. Amazon reportedly acquired Snackable AI late last year, and the audio intelligence startup’s technology automatically generates highlights and chapters in audio and video clips.

“In December 2022, Snackable joins Amazon to continue innovating and exploring new experiences on behalf of Amazon Music’s podcast customers,” Snackable AI’s LinkedIn page says. On that page, Snackable’s website is now listed simply as an Amazon Music page.

Snackable AI’s CEO and founder Mari Joller’s LinkedIn page lists her job as head of AI and machine learning products at Amazon.” I build AI-powered products at Amazon Music Podcast. Before that I was the founder and CEO of Snackable AI, an audio intelligence startup,” her page says.

As the New York Post noted Friday, a listing on the Product Hunt forum said Snackable AI can instantly scan long audio clips to create “chapters, highlights and more. That could make it easier for listeners to find certain information or clips from a podcast without having to listen to an entire episode.

Amazon did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Amazon Web Services last month launched a new cloud service called Amazon Bedrock designed to let companies and developers use artificial intelligence to improve their software. Amazon also launched Amazon CodeWhisperer, an artificial intelligence programming companion. AWS said CodeWhisperer is free and is the fastest, most accurate and secure way to generate code for Amazon services.

As artificial intelligence becomes more sophisticated, it’s becoming more common. Amazon is just one of many tech companies dabbling in AI with chatbots or features. Other companies include Microsoft, Google, Mozilla, DuckDuckGo, Alibaba and Snapchat. Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk also reportedly created an artificial intelligence company called X.AI.
