Amazon’s Fire tablet is known for its low price and compact size, but the company’s latest tablet breaks at least one of those traditions, as the Amazon Fire Max 11 has an 11-inch 1200 x 2000 screen, which is Amazon’s largest tablet to date and is larger than the previous 10.1-inch Amazon Fire HD 10 is an inch larger.

The highlight of the Amazon Fire Max 11 is not just the screen size, it also has an 8 MP front-facing camera that sits in the middle of the tablet’s long side, perfect for horizontal video calls. This isn’t the first Fire tablet to feature this design, but many other tablets don’t.

That makes the Fire Max 11 the closest competitor to the iPad 10.9 (2022), since they have nearly identical screen sizes and the iPad 10.9 (2022) is also the first iPad to have a landscape selfie camera and one of the cheapest iPads, though it’s still considerably more expensive than Amazon’s tablet.

The Amazon Fire Max 11 also comes with a 2.2GHz octa-core chip and 4GB of RAM, which Amazon claims makes it nearly 50% faster than the company’s previous fastest tablet. Amazon also claims it’s three times more durable than the iPad 10.9 (2022) thanks to its aluminum body and tempered glass screen, and the tablet promises 14 hours of battery life with Dolby Atmos audio and a choice of 64GB or 128GB of storage.

On top of that, the tablet has a rear 8MP camera and a fingerprint sensor — a first for the Fire tablet line. And, of course, it has Amazon’s Alexa assistant built-in.

The tablet also has a number of accessories available, including a removable keyboard cover and a stylus, so this tablet is as good for entertainment as it is for productivity and creative work.

The Amazon Fire Max 11 costs $244.99 (currently about RMB 1,725), and the package with accessories costs $344.99 (currently about RMB 2,429). Pre-orders are available now for users in the U.S. and U.K. and will ship on June 14.
