Game developer Relic Entertainment announced today that the fourth season of Age of Empires IV will be launched on February 16. The update introduces three new maps, a special race with additional events, and reintroduces the classic Nomad game mode and more.

Season 4 will introduce a new race called Enchanted Grove. This race lives on a new purple map with lots of glowing plants on the ground. During multiplayer and encounter matches, a magic stag will be randomly generated on the map, and players who successfully hunt it will receive a golden stag monument. For balancing purposes, this biome will not be included in the ranking cycle.

Season 4 introduces Four Lakes, Continental and Marshland maps, as well as reintroduces the classic Nomad game mode from Age of Empires II (tentatively translated as “Nomad Mode”).

After choosing the Nomad mode, there are only villagers and no town centers in the opening. It’s a slower start with more variables. This mode can be selected in the custom game settings.
