As the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off in Qatar on Sunday, Google has launched a new homepage doodle and a new multiplayer game to celebrate with fans around the world. The animated doodle features a pair of richly colored soccer cleats practicing their passes as the world watches the biggest event in global soccer.

Fans who want to get in on the action themselves can Google “World Cup Qatar 2022” on their mobile devices and compete online with other fans around the world.

The World Cup pits the world’s best 32 national teams against each other to find out which country can claim dominance of the sport for the next four years. The tournament is usually held every four years during June and July, but because Qatar’s desert climate is too hot in the summer to properly host the tournament, this is the first time the tournament has been held in November and the schedule has been reduced by four days. The Qatar World Cup also marks the first time the tournament has been hosted by a Middle Eastern country, and the tournament will conclude on Dec. 18.

Fox has the exclusive English-language rights to broadcast the World Cup in the United States. Many live TV services in the U.S. are available on FS1 and local Fox stations, namely Sling TV Blue, YouTube TV, Hulu Plus Live TV, DirecTV Stream and FuboTV. click here for the full World Cup schedule.
