The third largest memory supplier, Micron, has confirmed this. The company said it has accelerated the ramp-up of DDR5 memory chip production capacity. However, demand in 2022 will be lower than expected. Micron previously expected that the share of DDR5 memory in the server field in the fourth quarter of 2023 will increase. If it exceeds 50%, it will be out by the end of next year. Now it is expected to reach this goal in the Q4 quarter of 2024.
Server servers are one of the first breakthroughs in DDR5 memory. The market share of this market will be delayed for a year before DDR5 can be popularized. The PC market is even more difficult. After all, individual consumers prefer to save money when demand is declining. Buy not buy.
As for the popularity of the PC market, according to the data given by the research agency Omdia, the market share of DDR5 memory at the end of 2021 is only 1.1%, it will exceed 10% in 2022, 28.8% in 2023, and only 43.3% in 2024.
