Every month Valve conducts a survey to gather information about the PC configurations its users use to access Steam. This data helps developers optimize their games, and the Steam hardware and software survey is also an important source of information about the share of various Windows versions. It’s worth noting that participation in the survey is optional, so the data is not representative of 100% of Steam users.
The results of the December survey show that Windows 11 continues to steal users from the hands of Windows 10. According to Valve, Windows 11 had a 28.42% share of Steam in December 2022, an increase of 0.44 percentage points compared to November 2022.
Windows 10 64-bit is the most used OS version on Steam, losing only 0.18% share in December 2022 and still has a 65.42% market share. Windows 7 64-bit ranks third, with a current share of 1.66% (-0.22).
