A SpaceX rocket was on its way to the company’s facility in Hawthorne, California, when a trailer collided with it as it crossed a bridge with low ground clearance, IT House said July 23.
SpaceX’s operations roadmap shows that the company will build engines and rockets at its Hawthorne facility and then send them to McGregor, Texas, for testing. After testing is complete, the rockets will be shipped back to their place of origin or elsewhere, depending on their use.
According to a NASASpaceflight reporter on Twitter, the Falcon 9 rocket was involved in an accident on its way from McGregor to Hawthorne when the rocket hit a bridge on the Texas Turnpike during transport.
In a subsequent blog post, NASA confirmed the accident and identified the rocket as the one used for the Crew-5 International Space Station launch mission in September. nasa said the damage was limited to the portion of the rocket between the booster and the spacecraft. spaceX and nasa have inspected the rocket to ensure that other areas were not affected.
The Crew-5 mission crew included NASA astronauts Nicole Mann and Josh Cassada, Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata and Russian cosmonaut Anna Kikina.
