SpaceX announces Starlink for RVs service in December: RVs can access the Internet while driving

SpaceX has announced that Starlink for RVs (Starlink for RVs) will go live in December 2022. There are already quite a few satellite communication devices installed on the top of the RV or outside, but these devices can only be used in a stationary state, such as in a campground or a remote cabin. And Starlink for RVs can provide wireless service on the road, but the cost is not cheap.

The standard version of the Starlink for RVs service uses SpaceX’s $599 satellite dish, while the mobile version uses the Flat High-Performance satellite dish. In addition, the order page shows that there is also a $50 shipping and handling fee. SpaceX’s website says the hardware is weatherproof and that it’s “designed to be permanently installed on your vehicle.”

In addition to the satellite dish, if you want the “Best Effort” Internet connection, you will also need to pay $135 per month. In a supporting document, Starlink explained the expected results: “Compared to other Starlink services, Starlink network resources are always not prioritized for RV users, resulting in degraded service quality and slower speeds in congested areas and peak hours.”
