Sony Xperia 5 IV launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor; specifications, price

The Sony Xperia 5 IV is continuing with its predecessor’s design trend. This device aims to fix a few things about the Sony Xperia 1 IV, such as its screen size. The new Xperia device fits fine into the compact Android device class, now let’s take a look at its specifications.

Asides from the little adjustment in screen size (in comparison with its predecessor) that the new Sony device brings similar specifications. This new device is also a flagship entry as it comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Another change brought to the Xperia 1 IV is the camera configuration.

  • Screen: 6.1-inch OLED HDR screen with 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. 
  • Storage: 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB variants.
  • Main Camera: Triple setup with a 12MP wide camera, 12MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide camera.
  • Front Camera: 12MP front-facing camera.
  • Battery: 5000mAh battery with fast charge.
  • Operating System: Android 12.
  • Biometrics: Side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Like other Sony devices, this new entry comes with slim bezels on top and at the base of the screen. The bezel on top houses the front-facing speaker, the selfie camera sensor, and a flash. At the base, the bezels house nothing, the mic is on the same side as the charging port and speaker grills. The packaging of this device only holds the smartphone, there is no charging cable or paperwork.

The retail price of this device starts at $1000 for the least storage variant. It comes in the following colour options Green, Black, and Ecru White. For its availability, this device will launch sale in the Asian regions and gradually become available in selected regions within the year.
