Sony has announced the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary – Sony Research Corporation, whose mission is “to open up the future with the power of creativity” and will conduct unprecedented disruptive technology research and development.
According to the report, Sony Research Corporation will initially focus on sensing, AI and virtual space. The Sony AI Company, which was established in 2020, will be merged into Sony Research, which will further expand the scope of research and development based on its existing achievements and develop more research areas to meet greater challenges. Sony Research, led by Hiroaki Kitano, currently senior executive vice president and chief technology officer of the Sony Group, will work on projects with partners around the world.
Officials say Sony Research aims to empower creators around the world to maximize their creativity, intellectual property value and fan engagement. Sony Research defines creators in the fullest sense of possibility, confident that Sony technology can empower creativity and make a significant contribution to society.
