Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO Jim Ryan in a recent interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu, talked about the development strategy in terms of exclusive games.
Ryan said Sony is keenly aware of the importance of PS5 exclusive games to the company’s development. In the just-ended fiscal year 2023, console sales set another single-quarter record and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Ryan sees Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which launches next fall, as the most important exclusive game of all. The game is exclusive to the PS5 console, Insomniac Games can maximize the performance of the PS5 console.
Ryan said he plans to increase the number of exclusive games to further push up PS5 game sales. Sony has already reached cooperation with a number of third-party game studios and will release games such as Rise of the Ronin, Final Fantasy XVI and Death Stranding 2.
Ryan’s interview is as follows:
PlayStation Studios ensures that players will be able to play a variety of games on PS game consoles. We will increase the number of PS5 console-exclusive games and delay the time to hit the PC platform.
I've been talking to gamers a lot, and they agree with the idea of delaying the PC platform. Players agreed to release PS5 exclusives on PC 2-3 years after their release.
