Sony PS VR2 Equipped with MediaTek, opens for pre-order in the first 7 countries

Sony PS VR2 is now open for pre-order, currently limited to seven countries: the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

The PlayStation VR2 will be available on February 22, 2023, with a suggested retail price of $549.99 (about RMB 4004) / HK$4580 (about RMB 4246), supported only by PS5.

According to the introduction, PlayStation VR2 Sense technology features headset feedback, eye-tracking, 3D sound effects, and adaptive trigger and haptic feedback for the PS VR2 Sense controller, among other key features, to deliver an unprecedented gaming experience.

In addition, with enhanced head-mounted controller tracking and high-fidelity visuals in 4000 x 2040 HDR video format (2000 x 2040 for monocular). The unit is designed to be thinner and lighter this time around, and an integrated vent has also been officially constructed to provide additional airflow and configured with a lens adjustment knob for greater freedom of customization.

PlayStation says it’s exciting to see game developers actively using the PS VR2 headset’s capabilities to design next-gen VR games. More than 20 games are expected to be available when PS VR2 launches in February.

In addition, at the previous MediaTek summit, MediaTek confirmed that Sony PS VR2 will be powered by MediaTek’s first VR chip, and MediaTek has yet to announce the exact specifications of the chip.
