Sony LinkBuds S launched as world’s smallest, lightest TWS earbuds; specifications, price

It was only recently Sony announced the new update for its WH-1000X series over-ear headphone lineup, the WH-1000XM5. Now, the company has unveiled a new pair of earbuds, LinkBuds S with LDAC and ANC support.

According to Sony, the LinkBuds S is the world’s smallest and lightest true-wireless headphones. The buds weigh only 4.8g and the company stated that making the pair comfortable was their main priority. They have an ergonomic design, they won’t cause irritation, very stable and secure fit. Even during an intense workout, the buds won’t come off. 

Sony has dropped the open ring driver and the case is vertical. Similar to the AirPods. The buds have rubber ear tips and touch controls.

The buds also support Alexa and Google Assistant. In terms of battery life, the Japanese company offers a full day of battery life. Specifically, about 6 hours of playback time with active noise cancelling but accompanied but the charging case, the pair can hold up to 20 hours. 

Sony has also stated that about 5 min of charging provides about an hour’s worth of playback time. The bud also supports Sony’s high-quality LDAC Bluetooth codec and they are IPX4 rated for water resistance. 

Sony LinkBuds S price and availability 

The LinkBuds will be available starting May 20 but they are open for pre-orders. The buds are available in three colors; black, white, and ecru. The buds are priced at $200 which is $20 more expensive compared to the previous LinkBuds.
