Sony Hires New Software Engineers to Help Develop New Emulators for Classic Games

Sony is currently looking for a software development engineer to fix bugs, add new features, and develop new emulators for the PS4 and PS5’s classic game library. The news comes from a user on the Resetera forums who shared that Sony is looking for a software development engineer via Link to eventually join PlayStation’s “tools and technology team” to support the newly launched PS4 and PS5 classic games.

Most interestingly, the job posting also states, “Classic games are run by emulating the traditional PlayStation platform. As a Classic Games Engineer, you will need to work closely with other engineers, producers, and QA teams to fix bugs, add new features, and develop new emulators.” In addition, applicants must have 10+ years of C/C++ programming experience, as well as experience developing cross-platform software for consoles and PCs.

Sony’s move may be an expansion of the classic game library team and will add more classic games to the PS Plus premium subscription service.
