Sony Announces High-Pixel Full-Frame ILX-LR1 Camera

Sony today officially released the ILX-LR1, a full-frame scalable system remote control camera tailored for system integration.

The new product adopts a lightweight design, has a compact and compact body size, and is equipped with a full-frame image sensor with about 61 million effective pixels, which can achieve high-resolution image capture and is suitable for power inspections, surveying and mapping measurements and 3D modeling with drones and other applications.

The introduction of the Sony ILX-LR1 camera attached is as follows:

ILX-LR1 can capture images with high resolution, low noise and wide dynamic range, which can show details such as slight scratches and cracks on the subject during the inspection process. The user can choose to use the analog control signal as the trigger method in the single shooting mode to realize remote control shooting of about 3 frames per second, and can quickly complete the ground image acquisition in a short time at high altitude. At the same time, ILX-LR1 can be used with more than 70 E-mount lenses, and users can choose the appropriate lens according to the project. A single high-resolution photo taken from high altitude with the ILX-LR1 can replace multiple shots taken with a lower-resolution camera.

ILX-LR1 is a compact and lightweight design full-frame expandable system remote control camera, it measures approximately 100mm wide x 74mm high x 42.5mm deep and weighs approximately 243 grams (the unit without display, viewfinder and battery ), designed to meet the needs of industrial applications.

The compact size and excellent features of the ILX-LR1 can be used in a variety of workplaces and purposes, such as utilities, green energy, telecommunications, transportation, construction and land management projects. This compact box camera has M3 screw holes on six sides, allowing it to be mounted in different positions on drones, industrial equipment, robots or submersibles. In addition, it also has 1/4-20 UNC screw holes on the bottom, and USB Type-C and Micro HDMI ports on the back, which is convenient for users to install and shoot.

The Sony Camera Remote SDK enables users to remotely access and control the camera’s menus and other functions through an application. By integrating the API into the system, users can remotely control the camera from the system to realize functions such as changing camera settings, releasing the shutter, and live view monitoring. In addition, the user’s application can link the unique image ID with the drone’s position data in post-processing, which can use an analog signal to trigger image capture, greatly reducing the delay between each image and the drone’s position data. With the new SDK version 1.11, when using manual focus, the focus point can be retrieved and adjusted to the desired position, resulting in highly repeatable and stable shots. In addition, the locking switch prevents accidental misoperation of the buttons on the back.

In some remote application scenarios that require immediate response, such as capturing images at a specific moment, the power supply and control terminal of ILX-LR1 can provide low-latency data communication for remote applications. ILX-LR1 supports DC 10-18V power connection, which can be powered by the drone battery to prolong the shooting time.
