Snapdragon X65 5G devices, Qualcomm and multiple system network vendors complete 5G mm-wave

The Chinese Institute of Information and Communications IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group official learned that Qualcomm Technologies Inc. recently completed the technical verification of a 5G millimeter wave independent networking technology project with a number of system network vendors in the laboratory and existing network respectively.

The series of tests were conducted using CPE test terminals equipped with Snapdragon X65 5G modem and RF system, and network vendors such as ZTE, Nokia Bell Shanghai and CITIC Mobile tested the FR2-only technology in millimeter wave independent networking (SA) mode.

The tests verified features such as downlink 4X200MHz channel bandwidth, downlink 256QAM, DSUUU, uplink 2X200MHz and mobility. Core performance indicators such as single-user throughput, user-plane and control-plane delay, beam switching and cell switching were also verified simultaneously.

In the docking environment with ZTE, the peak downlink rate exceeds 7.1Gbps with the DDDSU frame structure and 2.1Gbps with the DSUU frame structure, and the minimum ping test delay is 3.6ms.

According to the introduction, compared with Sub-6GHz technology, FR2 only in millimeter-wave independent networking mode has higher speed and ultra-low latency; meanwhile, the technology does not depend on the Sub-6GHz band, which makes the deployment more flexible.
