Smartphone shipments decline but required LTPO OLED panel shipments are expected to double

According to foreign media reports, by the global economic downturn concerns, the demand for consumer electronics products also had a significant decline, as an important product in the field of consumer electronics smartphones, demand has also declined.

In its latest report, the research firm predicts that the global smartphone market will shrink significantly this year, with 1.425 billion units expected to be shipped this year, down 18 percent year-over-year.

Smartphone shipments are expected to decline significantly year-on-year, which means that the demand for the panel, a key component, will also decline.

However, the research firm also said in the report, although the smartphone demand for panels will have decreased, but LTPO-AMOLED this type of smartphone panel shipments, is expected to increase significantly, in this year is expected to reach 148 million, an increase of 94% year-on-year.

Smartphone panel shipments will decline significantly, is LTPS AMOLED and LCD two types of panels. Researchers expect shipments of LTPS AMOLED smartphone panels to decline 19 percent this year to 44 million, while shipments of LCD panels will decline 26 percent year-over-year.

LTPO-AMOLED panel shipments grew significantly, will also boost the revenue of related manufacturers, this category of smartphone panels, mainly produced by Samsung Display and LG Display, the research institute expects their share of panel revenue, will increase from 58% last year, to 64%.
