SK Hynix has announced that it has completed the development of 1bnm, the fifth generation of its 10nm process technology, and validated memory programs for DDR5 products targeting Intel’s Xeon processors.
Jonghwan Kim, SK Hynix’s head of DRAM development, said 1bnm will be adopted by-products such as LPDDR5T and HBM3E in the first half of 2024.
Intel has been working with the memory industry to ensure compatibility of DDR5 memory on Intel Xeon Scalable platforms; SK Hynix 1bnm is the first generation of these products for the next generation of Intel Xeon Scalable platforms and Intel Data Center Certified memory programs, said Dimitrios Ziakas, vice president of memory and IO technologies at Intel.
At the same time, SK Hynix also said that 1anm DDR5 for next-generation Intel Xeon Scalable platforms, the first of which compatibility testing has been completed, is also underway.
Attached is the history of SK Hynix development and DDR5 products:
DDR5 launch in October 2020
First 24 Gb DDR5 samples shipped in December 2021
January 2023 Intel server validation of 1anm DDR5
