SiFive releases RISC-V processors P670 and P470: 5nm process, maximum frequency 3.4GHz

SiFive announced the launch of two high-performance RISC-V processors designed to power “next-generation wearables and smart consumer devices”, the models P670 and P470.

According to reports, the SiFive P670 and P470 support virtualization, including a separate IOMMU for accelerating virtualized device I/O, and a complete out-of-order vector implementation based on the RISC-V Vector v1.0 specification approved last year, also known as the market. The first chip to support the new RISC-V vector encryption extensions, working together in clusters of up to 16 cores.

Built on a 5nm process, the SiFive P670 can reach up to 3.4GHz and claims to offer higher single-thread performance and 2x the compute density compared to traditional solutions, including a 2x 128-bit Vector ALU, compliant with approved RISC -V Vector v1.0 specification for advanced wearables, networking, robotics, mobile, and more.

The P470 is SiFive’s first efficiency-focused out-of-order, area-optimized, vector processor for wearables, consumer and smart home devices and other applications, also using a 5nm process with a maximum frequency of 3.4GHz. SiFive says the P470 expands on the proven P500 series, is significantly smaller than competing solutions, and is optimized for best-in-class performance efficiency and area density. The P470 can also be used with the P670 processor for applications that need to share computing resources while optimizing power consumption.

It’s unclear when the SiFive P670 and P470 processors will be available, but we can look forward to it.
