According to Taiwan media Central News Agency, semiconductor shipments are expected to hit a new high this year. The US Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) stated that this will help alleviate the global chip shortage.
In its annual industry report, SIA said semiconductors continue to grow in importance to the global economy, and the industry continues to strive to accelerate innovation and increase production.
SIA said that the semiconductor industry will continue to face major challenges. Semiconductor sales growth will slow down sharply in the second half of this year, and it is not expected to recover until the second half of 2023.
SIA data showed that global semiconductor sales in September 2022 fell by 0.5% month-on-month and 3% year-on-year, the first decline since January 2020. In the third quarter of 2022, global semiconductor sales totaled US$141 billion (approximately RMB 1.01 trillion), a year-on-year decrease of 3.0% and a quarter-on-quarter decrease of 6.3%.
